Claude Monet's "Manneporte near Étretat"
As I look out at the colorful, rough sea
A bridge of stone protrudes from the ocean’s floor
The foaming waves gently touch me
But rage and crash against the poor stone’s core
The clouds above seem so bright.
I wish I could climb the bridge’s back,
And jump right off into the sun without fright,
Joining the fury below till all turns black.
How would the sea look from there?
Within the fury of the waves,
Would the sun shine bright and sky look fair,
Or the colors become one blue haze?
The sea is gentle in one’s eyes,
But from another’s can bring demise.
