damon & marcus
An icy spell hypnotizes us as we wade into the glassy beats and cool draft of Coldheart’s opening bars. Then dreamy pensive, fluidly gliding vocals sooth our fluttering hearts before urgent sawing synths raise the temperature sky high. Coldheart is a fresh and creative new electronic track from Chicago based producer and dummer Cofresi, who’s teamed up with touring Gorillaz vocalist Marcus Atom on the drum effusive, rhythmic entrancing, and explosively animated melodic trap opus. It’s the second single from Cofresi’s forthcoming FACES EP, arriving in March. You can catch the producer on tour through May with Autograf and at various other festivals and shows. Coldheart is available from iTunes, here.
Chi-town’s Marcus Atom, an accomplished musician who was a member of Gorillaz’ Humanz ensemble, appeared on Cofresi’s song Coldheart earlier this year. He now makes his solo debut with Son Of A Bad Man, a smoky grooving blend of electronica and neo-soul with jazzy flourishes and a swanky hip hop beat. Son Of A Bad Man is an intoxicating affair and a sweet introduction to Atom’s music, which highlights his raw emotions as an artist and his introspective, honest approach to songwriting. You can also stream the debut via Spotify, here.
