Just past full now, into waning gibbous. I've been meaning to start getting more waning phase pics of the Moon, because it's interesting seeing the crater shadows from a reverse angle -- one rarely sees them that way, so everything looks weird and new. Usually you're seeing the craters on the *other* edge of Mare Crisium in a very new crescent. Another low-contrast / high-contrast pair for you; this new switch-to-the-other-camera-just-as-we-lock-in-focus-and-exposure algorithm means I'm pulling that nice, bright, crisp image from the very last frame or two before things go completely black. 🙄 No Jupiter this evening; I'd forgotten, we're almost to Christmas, it's setting earlier and earlier and will soon slip behind the Sun. 😕 #iphoneastrophotography #lunarphotography #waninggibbous #waningphases #marecrisium https://www.instagram.com/p/CXugNx8lxJE/?utm_medium=tumblr

As usual, the new crescent Moon doesn't offer much for the iPhone camera to go on, but here's a detail shot, a terminator shot, and an Earthshine shot. Mare Crisium fits almost perfectly into the curve of the crescent right now. Cleomedes is the crater to the north of it.
