Repost from @tomorrowsengineers using @RepostRegramApp - This is the first photograph taken by a spacecraft to show the whole of the moon and the whole of the Earth together in the same shot. It was taken #OnThisDay in 1977. It was taken by by the NASA probe Voyager 1 at a distance of 7.25 million miles from Earth. Voyager 1 is still travelling and transmitting data every day 41 years after launch. It is over thirteen billion miles from Earth, moving at an estimated speed of 38,027 miles per hour. An incredible engineering achievement! #SpaceEngineering #EarthandMoon #40thAnniversary #Voyager1 #Voyager2 #NASA #space #spacecraft #spacephotography #moon #planetearth #engineers #engineer #engineering #tomorrowsengineers #bluemarble https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn4NmG-gmQD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=12q51h6qp5elt
Okay, this took my breath away as I saw it. What you see here is WR 25 and Tr16-244, which are located in the open cluster Trumpler 16. If you zoom out further, you'll find this cluster embedded within the Carina Nebula, an immense cauldron of gas and dust! I never get tired of nebula and star clusters, do you? --------------------------------------------------------- Follow @etexplains for more! --------------------------------------------------------- Photo: NASA,/ESA, The Hubble Heritage Team © --------------------------------------------------------- #space #astronomy #nasa #science #physics #galaxy #engineering #spacex #instagood #instatravel #travel #wanderlust #explore #astrophysics #universe #love #technology #experiment #awesome #astrophotography #mars #astronaut #yourESA #art #natgeo #spaceengineering #universe_dope #stem (at University of Windsor)
