Christian Dior | ‘Soireé de Décembre’ | c.1955 ——— This silk faille evening dress is from Dior’s Y Line. The seemingly simple princess line gown is a sculptural masterpiece. Here the front of the skirt is short, reaching lower calf level - at the back the skirt forms an impressive train that sweeps the floor. The hem and neckline are stiffened and lined to hold the rigid shape. The particular dress was ordered from Dior by Margot Fonteyn, a long-standing client of Dior.
