Marikh, Bishuf, and Shim el Yasmine

I previously said, I don’t know who I am. I started this blog and forgot it existed, again. Was it that nothing interesting enough happened? Maybe. Was it that I’m a complete piece of shit that has terrible memory? Probably.

Anyway, this night was pure magic. Not the fairy tale kind, more like the I was on a drug high kind, without the drugs. It all started around 2 A.M.

Now, I’ve always believed that what makes up a human is not bone, flesh, and skin, it’s experiences that one goes through, they all shape up the human mind and make you into the you that everyone else and yourself know. And, boy oh boy, was tonight an experience.

I had intended to get out of the house and take a walk, and halfway through I decided to get lost. Now, this is the area I live in, so its hard to get lost in a place you know every meter of, but it happened (kind of).

Heading out, I shuffled all the songs that I have of a particular band that I love, but this time it was different. With not a single other thing on my mind I heard the music differently. I know the sound, and I know the tune, but what I heard was different. What played was feelings, instead of vocals, and my whole experience, in the place of instruments. What my brain had felt is hard to put in words, but it truly was a magnificent fusion of sound and unfamiliar visuals that created an almost psychedelic reality, creating scenes out of places I’ve never seen before, while in the background was the magnificence of a pure hymn created out of a mixture of disturbance, melancholy, and raw emotion. It was surreal, indescribable.

So that was one experience that will contribute to the creation of tomorrows Hamzeh.

Komet kembali melintasi Marikh, selepas sejuta tahun

WASHINGTON, 16 Oktober: 

Komet yang melintasi planet Marikh satu juta tahun dulu, akan kembali membuat lintasan Ahad ini.

Menurut Pentadbiran Aeronautik dan Angkasa Lepas Kebangsaan (NASA), komet itu yang dikenali sebagai Siding Spring (C/2013 A1) hanya akan kembali sejuta tahun lagi.

Ia mempunyai kelebaran 1.6 kilometer dan bergerak pada kelajuan 202,000 kilometer sejam.

Komet itu tidak mempunyai permukaan pejal, melainkan timbunan bagaikan bedak talkum.

Siding Spring akan menghampiri planet Marikh pada jarak 139,500 kilometer (88,000 batu), iaitu sangat hampir dengan permukaan planet, menurut kiraan astrologi dan jika komet itu melintasi bumi, ia akan berlaku pada kedudukan sepertiga daripada jarak bumi dengan bulan.

NASA dalam satu kenyataan memaklumkan, Siding Spring dijadualkan menghampiri planet Marikh pada jam 2.27 petang (1827 waktu GMT) Ahad ini.

Bagaimanapun, ia tidak akan bertembung dengan planet merah itu.

Namun, sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga, NASA telah menggerakkan kesemua orbiternya jauh daripada laluan komet itu, bagi mengelakkan terkena sebarang serpihan.

Tiga kapal angkasa NASA, iaitu Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Mars Odyssey dan MAVEN telah dialihkan ke kawasan lebih selamat dan jauh daripada laluan komet berkenaan.

NASA turut berharap dua buah rovernya di atas planet Marikh, iaitu Curiosity dan Opportunity akan dapat merakamkan komet berkenaan, ketika ia melintasi planet Marikh.

Komet Siding Spring ditemui Robert McNaught, ketika dia sedang melakukan pemantauan angkasa lepas di Pusat Cerapan Siding Spring di Australia, pada Januari tahun lalu.

Komet itu dipercayai berasal dari Debu Oort berbilion tahun dulu dan tidak berubah bentuk sehingga sekarang.

Pakar kajian bintang dari Balai Cerapan Fizik Tulen Universiti Johns Hopkins, Carey Lisse, berkata keunikan komet itu adalah ia masih bergerak dan mengembara mengelilingi matahari, sejak empat setengah bilion tahun lalu.

Satu daripada sebab mengapa komet itu masih aktif, kerana ia mengembara jauh daripada matahari ke kawasan gelap dan sebab itu, ia kekal beku pada kebanyakan masa.
