Marjorie Strider was a seminal 1st generation pop artist whose tongue in cheek work poked fun at the objectification and commodification of women even as she explored such formal issues as the limitations of two dimensional space in her art and as she incorporated elements of hard-edge abstraction. Along with other female pop artists such as Idelle Weber, Marisol or Roslyn Drexler, she was marginalized early on as a woman, but the art market has lately been coming around.
