Reverse AU where Ryland Grace gets sent into the Blood Ocean while Simon Plier gets sent up into space

Backstory time baby!!
Grace: Ryland Grace Seavers and his brother Colt Seavers weren't always bad kids. They used to be Eden's prodigy children despite often getting into trouble and pulling harmless pranks. Until one day, Tom Ryder made a big mistake.
He accidentally killed the last living tree in the universe.
To cover it up, he blamed it on the Seavers Twins. Colt got angry and started a fight which ended up with the destruction of Filament Station as well as the death of many.
Colt and Ryland then spent the next few years in prison until they were collected by C.O.I.
Colt was sent down into the ocean first. He was promised freedom for both him and his brother if he collected information and samples for them.
When he never came back up, they sent down Ryland.
Grace was down there for days. Longer than anyone else had been alive.
Rocky, the giant rock creature that followed him around the tunnels, had taken a liking to him. This human was Rocky's pet. At one point, Rocky tried removing Grace from the Submarine. But the radiation mixed with Rocky's DNA, transforming Grace into what is shown in the picture.
Simon:
Simon Plier was best friends with his cousins Yancy and Damien. They were dumb kids with even dumber ideas. One day, Simon decided he wanted to try college. So with Actor Mark's money, he went on to become a botanist.
He loved studying plants and different living organisms. It was a fun hobby that he would occasionally post small articles online. Though they never got much traction.
Bloody Mary Reverse AU!!
One day, he was visited by Ava, a military intelligence agent. She informed him the sun had been dimming and he had been sought out to help figure out why.
Simon wasn't the first to figure out much about Astrophage. In fact, he barely knew anything about it. But Ava kept him on the team.
Slowly, Simon learned about the sun eating organism.
He learned enough that he knew everything the rest of the team did.
When the science team meant to go up into space exploded in a tragic accident, Simon was sent up into space in their stead.
Up there, he managed to meet a blind, eel like alien who communicated telepathically and used his eyes to see. Together, they managed to figure out how to stop the Astrophage and save both Earth and Eli's home planet.
Where does this leave us?
In order to save Grace from dying, Rocky used his god like powers (cuz I'm giving him them) to teleport Grace onto the Hail Mary where Simon helped take care of him.
They end up on Eli's home planet, living on a single island in the middle of a large ocean planet.
I have so many ideas for this AU, backstory wise and main story as well. Hopefully I'll be able to find time to make mini comics to go with it (if not then I'll just do little drawings and large text posts like this one)
