Just this week, Mark Carney told Canadians that any sharing of toll revenue with the U.S. “won’t happen until all of the debt is repaid.”
But a Bloomberg piece out yesterday shows the U.S. and Canadian governments are describing two completely different versions of the same financial deal that got the bridge open.
The reporting highlights clear contradictions in the profit-sharing terms. Carney’s public line doesn’t match how the Trump side is characterizing what was actually agreed to.
Once again, Ottawa is spinning a concession as some kind of victory while Canadians are left holding the bag on a bridge we paid for entirely.
