Marks AU Megapost Take 2!
There’s another bunch of Marks AU messages in the inbox again so I’m tackling them all at once! Here we go!
Speaking of Marks AU ... I'd actually figured there'd be a hormone that ONLY hero marks had much of, and a counterpart for villain marks. (Also, the actual mark itself will heal until good as new if injured, so scars there don't stick. ) Anyway the marks hormones are rapidly reabsorbed when the marked person satisfies their mark urges, and build when the person isn't. They desensitise to repeat things and have to shake it up every so often, but can endlessly swap between two things.
It would make a good biological marker then, like you could identify a person as being a Hero or Villain mark through a blood test (like, say, if the part of their body with their mark had been amputated or perhaps at crime scenes). Oh no, I better cut myself off before I actually try to develop the biology of this, including enzymes and receptors. Bad science brain, bad!
Haha yeah sorry whoops. Marks AU is eating my creativity. Yeah I'm Longpost Anon, I probably should've asked for Marks AU to be tagged Marks AU on that first post, but I didn't because I didn't realise it'd escalate SO DAMN MUCH MARKS AU WHY. Although it is nice that the most recent marks AU post is actually tagged Marks AU. (You can save the retagging until you aren't burnt out on Marks AU. )
I am definitely going to have to go back and retag a BUNCH of stuff. Hopefully right after I post this XD
If the Marks AU trend continues it's gonna be the Big Hero 6 equivalent to Gravity Falls Transcendence AU. With its own blog and fic and AUs of AUs and everything. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. - LA
Wouldn’t that be something? Tell you what, if someone actually makes a Marks AU blog, I will definitely post a link for it. Because that would be cool.
Marks AU Gogo probably does have powers, actually. Maybe something like she can make shadow constructs? But she doesn't train the power, or even use it all that much. Her little brother is scared of the dark, and she's gotten used to not using her power as it scares him.
Oooh, interesting. It’s nice to see GoGo with powers that aren’t automatically associated with speed, keeps things fresh. And that’s a really good reason to be rusty with her powers. Maybe the nerd herd don’t even realize she HAS powers because they’ve never seen her use them, and it’s not like she talks about it.
There are a lot of varying Marked AUs... but I can definitely tell which one is canon.. what I can't tell is which AU is the canon location of the marks. In the recent one is Tadashi's mark is located on his lower back. Another's was on Tadashi's chest and Another was huge that part of the mark showed on his neck. Please consult OP about that XD
The one with the mark on his back was submitted by Mala Anon, and Longpost Anon has officially taken credit as the OP, so I’m going to tentatively say that the one on the back is alternative canon, and the one on the chest is original canon. Although for all I know there’s a third anon getting in on this and there is yet another location of his mark. Basically it’s all up to imagination, I think XD
The mark urges in Marks AU seem to be more of marks specific psychological needs.
I’m not sure what you mean by this? Like, they’re biological in nature? Yeah, I think that’s kind of how the world of this AU has developed. Marks are inherently part of people’s biological make-up in this AU
Most Notable Evil Hero Mark was the Philippines's Dictator President who declared Martial Law on the whole country. He had clear intentions but prejudice against Evil Hero Marks have tainted his rep and caused his downfall. Yes. Once in Every 30 years a Mark Changing event happens. No one is born with the "Evil" Hero mark or "Evil" Villain mark.
Ugh, sounds like a real jerk. And yeah, the mark-changing phenomena is probably one of those things that scientists are scrambling to understand, but they just haven’t quite unlocked the mystery yet. So it’s subject to a lot of crazy theories. Some people even speculate that “evil” marks are caused by the Government as a means of identifying those that “know too much.” Oddly enough, these are the same people who wear tin foil hats
Cass's Hero mark urges are always fulfilled when she's in the store, conducting honest business. But once she got the Evil Hero Mark, she'll randomly ground Hiro or Tadashi for no reason and the boys understand because its their urges. But after 3 minutes the punishment is lifted.
Poor Aunt Cass. She probably feels awful that she’s taking out her new mark urges on the boys. Thankfully as Villain Marks, they totally understand what that’s like. Maybe they even help her find better ways to satisfy the urges. Although getting grounded for 3 minutes is a small price to pay if it helps Aunt Cass feel better
What if when Aunt Cass walked in to Marks AU Tadashi hugging Hiro (and the blocky disaster on the laptop) Tadashi was crying? They're not sad tears, but Hiro's upset at them anyway. After all, if someone cries in relief, they must've been feeling awful.
She just rushes in and joins the hug, because her boys are upset and she’s gonna comfort them however she can. Hugs are a very effective method in the Hamada household.
Marked Callaghan's powers can be described as 'you LISTEN to me' (with the lectures, that bit of the art post is canon! ) and 'physics listens to ONLY ME here'. Combined with the fact that he's basically the archetypical out of control, mark urge ruled Hero Mark, and you get a very dangerous supervillain. (Hiro really wants villain marks and hero marks to be changed to something else. Sharps and pastels? Chaos and order? Just not villain and hero, those words are too useful. )
Yipes, yeah, that’s creepy as hell. Congrats on making Callaghan somehow even MORE scary and dangerous than the movie version. Maybe after BH6 stops him, Hiro has a bit more pull with the public to change the names, though it’s probably still going to be a long, slow, uphill process. These things stick.
What if marks AU Hamaparents were really prejudiced against villain marks, like, to the point where they'd call their own marked children tarmarks? They disowned Aunt Cass because she was not a markist jerk. Both the Hamabros are very confused and happy to be in her care. The first mothers day with her, they put so much effort into making it good that Tadashi ends up using up too much power with his lights and nearly passes out. He's fine after a snack and a nap though.
Oh my god, I have the most horrified expression on my face right now. Who would DO that to their kids? RUDE. But the rest of that is just so cute I feel better already XD
In the Marks AU, the boy's mother was a hero mark and their father was unmarked. Neither really knew how to raise a villain mark, and so when Tadashi got his mark at age two and he was a villain mark, they started punishing him for making giant messes and rewarding him for bottling his mark needs. When Hiro got his mark at two, they started the same process. A week after taking them in, Aunt Cass realised why they kept staring longingly at things. The beads and glitter took weeks to clean up.
This is somehow both better and worse parenting than the one above. At least this one is out of not knowing any better and not from malicious intent. Still, Hamada Parents, noooooo ;_;
Marks AU: A hero mark going bad is considered a great tragedy, extremely difficult, and the early stages tend to either not be noticed, waved off as 'oh everyone does that', or even celebrated. A villain mark going bad is considered almost inevitable, and most villain marks are taught from a very young age how to bottle their mark needs and that one day they WILL give in. Gogo is very scared once she realises that Callaghan was showing obvious signs of being on the edge of losing it for YEARS.
It might in fact be a form of mental illness in this AU. Like, with proper therapy and treatment, ‘going bad’ can be reversed, and people can recover from the downward spiral, but misinformation, prejudice, and just plain stupidity prevent people from getting the help they need. Everyone assumes that the downward spiral is a character flaw, rather than a result of an imbalance in the mark hormones in their system. There are a few groups that have sprung up in recent years that are fiercely trying to correct misconceptions, but it’s been very difficult.
Imagine, in the Marks AU, a police officer starts talking to the BH6 group about something Callaghan did (he convinced a guard to let him out, organized a prison break, and is on the loose again). They say they don't know Cal's motives and then between them, just speculating, Gogo, Fred, and Hiro manage to work it out. Gogo understands Hiro's nervousness slash horror at his working out of the criminal villain mark's plans after that. Such a tempting, twistedly sensible line of thought ...
She points out that it wasn’t just him that worked out Callaghan’s plan though. So Hiro isn’t exactly the same. And besides, if being able to think like Callaghan means he’s going to go bad, what does that mean about her? Hiro admits he’s being silly after that.
Hero Mark Wasabi visits Professor Callaghan once, as a form of respect to his former teacher.
Callaghan saw an opportunity in this for his revenge, he then started to be friendly to Wasabi then proceeds to mind control the dread-lock man by lecturing (coughRantingcough) about how villain marked people are bad and hero marked people are good. Callaghan’s charismatic and influential that way.
first order of business Wasabi did was put out of commission Villain marked Gogo, she garnered multiplie lacerations over her body, and she slipped into a coma.
This was possible due to Wasabi’s powers, he can conjure blunt blades from his wrists, then with enough will power, he can make his blades turn into plasma blades.
Then Wasabi broke a lot of people, the people whom Callaghan brainwashed, including Callaghan, out of prison.
Revenge against Hiro Hamada and Cass is about to begin.
Oh god, they have to de-brainwash Wasabi? Nooooooo! Oooh, maybe now is a good time to bring in Baymax, he can’t be brainwashed too, and I bet he has ways to break through to Wasabi.
Marks AU Hiro gets accepted back into SFIT a bit after Callaghan is jailed, with a scholarship. He ended up crying happily, which the person who gave him the scholarship thought was a mixture of adorable, heartwarming, and just a bit sad.
He’s just really happy that he can be in school with his friends. The presenter awkwardly patting him on the back gets caught on camera. Naturally, that’s the picture they go with when they publish the story in the newspaper :)
Imagine tiny little Marks AU Hiro begging Aunt Cass to let him get some glitter. For a month Hiro's response to his mark urges is to make a glitter bomb and then set it off on himself. Glitter still sometimes shows up in the Hamada's clothes from the glitter that got into the washing machine. Hiro stops using glitter by a few years into school due to bullies, but he starts again after Tadashi's found because he is dared to put glitter in Tadashi's hair.
Aunt Cass eventually enforces that Hiro can only use edible glitter, because there’s so much of it everywhere that it inevitably ends up in the cafe food. Glitter in her baked goods ends up becoming a bit of a trademark for Aunt Cass and the Lucky Cat. People think it’s really pretty/cool.
Aaaaaaand that’s all of the Marks AU Messages in the inbox right now. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to fix the tags and then pass out a little. *wheeze*
Edit: Okay, the Marks AU have all officially been retagged (by hand because I’m an idiot who can’t figure out the mass post editor). They are no longer under Superpowers AU, but Marks AU. That is all *faints*
