In the game, Mars/Eden uses a different calender to the COI.
Eden is the only known user of the Interstellar Martial Calander[sic] (IMC), using it instead of the conventional Epoch of Interplanetary Colonization (EIC) calendar.
1 IMC year = 1.88 EIC years.
So it's probably safe to assume Simon grew up using IMC. It's highly likely he didn't learn the other one. If Simon's in his early/mid-thirties (same as Markiplier) then he would have been, by the timekeeping standards he grew up with, eighteen during the movie.
Which means nothing developmentally, he's literally been alive for 30-something Earth years and grown at a normal human rate.
But I just think there's a special kind of tragedy for Simon, thinking he's eighteen. Being five when he moved to Eden. Being maybe as young as ten when he was put in prison for Filament Station.
Simon was, to his knowledge, eighteen when he died.
That red dude. wip

Hey so Markiplier lore theory.
So in the explanation of WMW, mark kind of says that the idea was that Wilford now exists outside of the fourth wall, sort of understanding he is media. HOWEVER I don't think that is QUITE the case, where while that is functionally what it happening, it's not actually meta in canon.
In this theory, engineer Mark is the ONLY character played by Mark. Asshole Mark, Damien, Wilford, they are all engineer Mark. In the post ISWM Livestream mark says that ISWM is more of a starting point of the events than WKM, making me thing that the unexplained powers of the manor were influence by the warp core.
Basically, three different alternate universe Engineers took the roles of three childhood friends in a clue-type universe. The warp core crystal is somewhere in the manor, and the paradox is caused by three Marks having been put in the same place.
Rather than Wilford's "nothing makes sense" meaning he sees through the fourth wall, he instead sees through the multiverse, realizing that they all have his face (could be the meaning of the masks, that he sees his own face everywhere when nobody else does) and realizing that his stupid Jumanji character was just that, a character to fill a funny one dimensional role in a whodunnit.
This makes sense for why Wilford is still insane despite having a similar perspective to the player character- while our perspective is outside of the fourth wall (represented by being pushed out into the mirror at the end of WKM) he has this knowledge from the role of a character rooted firmly INSIDE the videoverse.
And while he realizes that "it's all a joke", his murders often played for laughs and not holding any real consequences in the video, he still doesn't actually GET it. Because Mark (irl) makes a clear point that the deaths of characters in a seemingly inconsequential side universe are still deaths which have effects.
This part is even more speculative, but the emphasis on the ROLES the characters fill, Dark as villain and A!Mark as hero, Abe as detective, chef always as the chef, are very important to keep this expanding multiverse full of paradoxes functional at it's core. The universes are so plentiful and reproducing so rapidly that infinite resources aren't enough, meaning that individual characters are just that, characters, archetypes, pressed into a 1D mold, read like a storybook.
Anyway, there's some brain dump for you, sift through that and extrapolate what you can lol.
When Mark finally comes home to the USA
This is the last Mark/Lady Dimitrescu meme. I promise.
Even the bots...
