Ragwort (Jacobaea Vulgaris) Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus Balteatus)
Western Honey Bee/honungsbi, Peacock Butterfly/påfågelöga, Small Copper/mindre guldvinge, and Marmalade Hoverfly/flyttblomfluga. Värmland, Sweden (August 9, 2020).
a marmalade hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) feeding on an Oxalis flower. these plants may be horribly invasive, but they provide an easy meal for nectar drinkers (and weirdo hikers who enjoy sour flavors) in the colder months due to being very early bloomers. plus patches of them tend to be very dense, gifting our fly friend with some unexpectedly artsy lighting
(December 6th, 2024)
BUGS!! I was drinking coffee at a café, when on the flowers next to me were all kinds of bugs. These are the highlights, tho I love all bugs equally <333
@bees-with-a-camera bees, need I say more? Or well, specifically, bumble bees.

Great Tit, Blue Tit, Starlings, Jackdaw, firethorn berries and rose hips were also nice to see at home today. At Lakeside rose hips, mossy rose gall, buttercup, daisy, knapweed, wild parsnip, self-heal, red clover, interestingly hazel catkins coming before the colourful autumn leaves had fallen which someone I know online observed too, fleabane and wild carrot seed heads, violet leaves, lichen, shaggy scalycaps, turkey tail, Goldfinches, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coot, Moorhen, Great Crested Grebes, three Tufted Ducks including my first female here this autumn, Herring Gull, Grey Squirrel and a Marmalade hoverfly were great to see.
