Alec: Magnus I think we should get a divorce
Magnus: Alexander, what-
Alec: SO WE CAN GET MARRIED AGAIN
Alec: *pulls out ten thousand dollar ring*
Magnus: you’re a dork
Magnus: also, yes. I accept your divorce and your proposal and would be honored to divorce you only to marry you again.

I need... I need... I need prompt "Watch me" for fluffy Malec (its in an ask now :D)
18. "Watch me."
"Alec! Stop," Magnus laughed, breathless, as he came to a stop.
His husband, who had run a few paces ahead of him, turned and came back to where Magnus was. Alec wasn't as out of breath as Magnus. "Damn that Shadowhunter stamina," Magnus muttered as he looked at Alec.
Alec chuckled, and in a teasing tone, said, "Tired already?"
Magnus glared at him and laid down on the grass. Alec dutifully followed.
"I hate you for making me do this," Magnus said, his eyes on the sky.
He felt Alec's gaze on him, and he could exactly picture the incredulous expression Alec must have on his face as he said, "You decided all on yourself to join me on my morning workouts because you said, and I quote, 'I love seeing you workout, it makes me want to do things to you.'"
Magnus huffed, but couldn't keep the smile off his face. "Well, right now, I don't think I can even get up, pun intended."
Alec burst out laughing. Magnus joined him, unable to keep his own laughter in.
"This might not have been the best idea," Magnus finally admitted as they stopped laughing.
Alec side eyed him. "Mm, you think so?"
Magnus chuckled. "Running might not be my forte, but I'm sure I could beat you in aerobics," he said, after a moment.
"Oh?"
"Mhmm."
Alec stared at him.
Magnus stared back with a mischievous smile on his face. "Watch me," he said and stood up.
Alec raised himself to a sitting position and sat with his arms on his knees.
Magnus shook his arms a couple times and then began to stretch. Alec kept staring. After a few minutes, Magnus turned around, his back facing Alec. Alec thought he saw a smirk on Magnus' face as he turned, but quickly forgot as Magnus bent down to touch his toes and then got back up.
Magnus repeated the motion a few times and then turned back around to face Alec.
Alec swallowed and got up. "You little tease," he said, as he walked up to Magnus, who had an innocent smile on his face.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Alec rolled his eyes and pressed a soft kiss to Magnus' lips. "Sure you dont," he muttered.
Magnus smiled and pulled Alec in for another short kiss. "Haven't even started with the cardio yet."
"Forget the cardio. Let's go home."
Magnus barely contained his smirk. "Seems like my idea worked after all."
Alec smiled crookedly into their silence and offered, “Hey, here for the festival?”
The faerie boy gasped out, “Yes!”
“Me too,” said Alec. “Family outing. Those are my kids over there, with my husband. Over there. That’s my husband.”
Alec said “my husband” so proudly, as if the word was a new and dearly prized acquisition with the shine still on it, something he wanted to show everybody.
-Forever Fallen, Cassandra Clare
Just a glimpse of married Malec and consul Alec. A little teaser of their family life filled my heart with joy. Yes I'm way too excited for them in TWP 🥺🥲
Okay look. There will never not be a day I am not thrilled about the fact that Magnus and Alec are married. I am so happy. And I love the Lightwood-Bane name as much as anyone...
But there's still something about the thought of them both with the last name Bane that draws me in.
Alec, who has built his entire life looking after his family, putting their needs above his own time and time again, giving up everything for them, choosing to take something for himself. Choosing to take a name to show he’s letting him be himself, his own person and letting himself be free. Taking the name of the man he loves when he never thought he'd be allowed that.
Magnus broaching that he doesn’t want to be a Lightwood. Magnus, who after centuries of prejudice and trauma, doesn't want to take the name of a long-living family of the race of his oppressors. That he can’t and without hesitation, Alec softly confessing that he wouldn’t mind being Alec Bane. That he'd want that.
Consider Magnus in tears because he, who no one has ever wanted, has his fiancé sitting across from him saying he wants to take Magnus' name. His mother and step father never wanted him. Because yes, he's had family, friends who have made themselves his but they were all downworlders and none of whom had ever wanted to take on his name. No one has ever chosen him like that. And here Alec is, eyes soft and adoring and fidgeting nervously. A Shadowhunter willing choosing to take the name of one of the most renowned warlocks in history.
Also Alec Bane and Magnus Bane just sound freaking badass if I'm being honest. I just. love how it sounds and they deserve every happiness and there's just something that makes my heart sing about Alec willingly choosing to take on Magnus' name over the Shadowhunter one and sassily correcting anyone who tries to address him as Lightwood because he is a Bane thank you very much
The thought of Alec choosing that, choosing Magnus, just makes my heart happier than I can express and I have many more feelings on this I will probably yell about in the future
For the prompts: 36. "hey, don't listen to them." Any pairing you really want to write.
I decided to go Magnus/Alec here, since I’ve only gotten to write for them once so far, and I love them so!
Magnus was used to this, he really was.
Yes, he was the High Warlock of Alicante, and yes, he was married to the (gorgeous and kind and brilliant) Inquistor. Yes, they had had an amazing wedding, in the Institute, and their last names were hyphenated, and so you would think by now everyone would at least know better than to talk poorly about Magnus at a Shadowhunters’ function, especially while Alec was around.
But no one ever said every Shadowhunter was as wise as his Alexander.
“I still can’t believe he shows up to these things,” the blonde woman standing near the bar muttered, shooting Magnus another (highly unsubtle) dirty look. Magnus congratulated himself on resisting the urge to use just a little magic to make that drink of hers spill all over the front of her dress.
“We all know the Inquistor only married him as a power play,” the man next to her grumbled. “Having that much magic on your side guarantees no one is going to be able to overthrow you.”
“I certainly hope you’re not plotting any sort of rebellion.” Ah, and there was his husband. Magnus barely stifled a laugh at the way the two shadowhunters jumped, having completely missed Alec sliding up behind them. And yes, the woman did spill her drink all over her dress, Magnus noted with satisfaction.
“Of course not, Inquistor Lightwood,” the man babbled, and Alec held up a finger, stopping the words in their tracks.
“Lightwood-Bane,” Alec corrected, and reached a hand out, Magnus taking it with a grin. “I’m sure you are aware I’m married to the most handsome, kind, clever, and needless to say powerful, warlock in the world, let alone in Alicante. Which means you are aware that when I hear you talk about my husband the way you have been, you can consider your invitations to any future events rescinded. Also, that you should pack some warm clothes for your new assignments in Siberia.” Alec’s smile was savage as he took in their horrorstruck faces, before turning to Magnus. “Let’s find somewhere better to be, husband of mine.”
Never letting go of Magnus’ hand, Alec headed towards the balcony, wrapping his arms around Magnus, his chest securely against Magnus’ back. Magnus leaned into him, staring up at the stars.
“Hey, don’t listen to them,” Alec said suddenly, his lips against Magnus’ ear. “They’re idiots, you know that right? You’re amazing. I married you because of who you are, not what you can do.”
“I know, my darling Alexander,” Magnus assured him, turning in his arms and leaning up to plant a kiss on Alec’s lips. “And I do so enjoy watching you defend my honor. It’s very attractive.”
Magnus could see Alec blush even against the night sky, and he would never get tired of that, that he could do that to his beloved Shadowhunter.
“I don’t think we have to stay much longer...” Alec’s breath danced across Magnus’ skin as he lowered his lips to Magnus’ bared neck.
“I’ve corrupted you, Alexander,” Magnus’ words stuttered slightly as Alec’s lips moved to press a kiss behind his ear. “One of my greatest accomplishments. But I must know, are you really going to send them to Siberia?”
Alec chuckled, resting his head on top of Magnus’. “Sadly, we don’t have an Institute in Siberia. But let’s just let them live in fear for a few days. No one talks about you that way.”
“My vicious, vicious husband,” Magnus said with a laugh, a twinkle in his eye as he leaned up again for another kiss.

“Come on Magnus, when can I open my eyes? I feel like an idiot,” Alec huffed as he shuffled forward a bit more, Magnus’ hand twined in his own.
“In a minute Alexander, you can’t rush perfection.” Magnus scolded playfully before laughing at the puff of air that Alec gave in reply.
“Okay, open them.” Magnus blurted out and Alec inhaled sharply when he finally opened his eyes.
“Magnus, this is… What?” Alec breathed out as he took in the grassy hill that loomed ahead of them, standing out against the darkness of the sky that was illuminated by the full moon and stars that were dotted around the globe. Spread out on the grass was a picnic blanket, food and of course Max who was playing with a teddy bear cooing happily.
“A picnic under the stars for my star of course,” Magnus said cheerfully as he tugged his husband up the small hill and then down onto the blanket. Max gave them both a gummy smile and dropped his bear to pull himself up onto Alec’s lap.
“Hi Maxie, did you help your papa set all of this up?” Alec asked as he wrapped his blue-skinned son up in his arms, bouncing him slightly and a soft silver glow began to emit from him when Max giggled and shrieked happily.
“This is wonderful Magnus, but what brought this on?” Alec leaned over to peck his husband’s lips before laughing when Magnus pulled Alec into his side and carded his fingers through Alec’s dark hair.
“It was the way you were staring up at the stars that night, you looked… Homesick, I just wanted to help you feel closer to them is all.” Magnus said quietly as he lifted his free hand up to Max’s face and smiled when their son grabbed at his digits and began to gnaw on them gently.
“I do miss being up there, but that isn’t my home… Not anymore, I’m with my home.” Alec ducked his head down to bury his face in Max’s baby soft hair to hide his blush as his silver glow increased to a brighter shine.
“Oh Alexander,” Magnus felt his heart swell up with happiness and tugged at Alec’s hair just enough to make Alec look up so he could capture his husband’s lips in a solid kiss. Max squealed and clapped his hands when his parent’s parted and Alec’s glow was almost blinding.
“Your papa is making it his life’s mission to see how bright I can shine Maxie, can you believe that?” Alec crooned at his son, biting his lip at up Magnus who just looked smug.
“A worthy cause I think,” Magnus teased as Alec settled against him with Max cuddled up against his chest. Alec’s head was tipped up and his hazel eyes were locked on the shining stars overhead.
“Do you ever think about going back? Can you go back?” Magnus asked quietly, not sure if he wanted an answer.
“At the start, all I wanted to do was go home, but now… It never crosses my mind. There is one way I can go back and it’s with a candle, a candle that hasn’t existed in a very, very long time. A Babylon candle. Maybe one day I will set out to find one, when everyone I know is gone, maybe one day I will return to the sky.” Alec whispered and Magnus’ mind jerked to a halt.
“When everyone is gone?” Magnus’ mouth was dry.
“Stars are forever Magnus, the only way for them to die is if their heart is taken from them, literally.” Alec sounded pained and sad like he had seen this happen one too many times.
“So immortality?” Magnus’s heart was beating hard in his chest and he decided not to press about the literal heart taking comment, not wanting to think about that too much.
“You and Maxie are stuck with me Magnus,” Alec said softly and turned his gaze over to Magnus, his hazel eyes shining silver.
“Forever Darling,” Magnus murmured his reassurances and dipped his head down to kiss his husband and bask in the fact that he would be with his husband and child for the rest of their lives. He and Max would be able to gaze at their own star for the rest of their days and Magnus never thought he would be grateful to Valentine but he was it meant he got to meet and fall in love with his own star.
