The Marshall Fire currently burning in Colorado (USA) is THE most destructive wildfire we’ve ever had, in terms of homes lost: 600 and counting. 35,000 people evacuated as of this post. We have NEVER seen a wildfire rip through populated areas like this. People are going to need a lot of help in the coming weeks. Please do what you can, including copying or reposting!

Remote damage assessment of affected areas involves using a lot of GIS and remote sensing tools.

 I've been working with multiple VOADs to assist them with their efforts in Colorado, and here you can see an ESRI Aerial imagery layer from before the incident, a MAXAR satellite image in the infrared bands during the incident, and GIC aerial imagery post-incident.

There are a lot of rescue donations in our communities that can provide all sorts of necessities; food, shelter, support. #localchurches #localgovernment When Colorado’s Wildfire (high winds induced, I believe) was made known to me last night, I stayed connected with my mom, office mates, chiro doctors, family, neighbors & people who monitor me (hopefully not in a peeping Tom kind of way but more of the caring human being who monitors one’s well being kind) most the entire time. Once declared as a 🆘 STATE OF EMERGENCY 🚨 I held a bit of panic and stress but it was mitigated by a feeling protection. There was and IS a network of people who legit care about each other. How incredible it truly is to know that we ALL are looking out for each other’s safety & wellbeing. #HUMANITY Mi familia y yo were luckily did not have to evacuate last night and the calm responder who answered my 9-1-1 call was able to soothe me to bed on assurances that the fire wasn’t going to be a threat to our home. 😳😰 😥 😅 😴 It amazes me that my mom not once had any level of panic or anxiety. Wow. Life is one wild ride in which you’ll never know which way it will turn. The #Marshallfire has crept it’s way closer and closer to my neighborhood. We may or may not be evacuating tonight. In life, I know that it is important to collect memories instead of things…but for a mild hoarder like me I love to collect A LOT of both. A lot of memories & a lot of things. Tonight I was suppose to gain a spectacular memory at Decadence!! Nonetheless, I am peacefully sitting here in my room appreciating all the special things that I’ve held onto over the years. They’re pretty valuable to me and I feel real sad that I will have to leave it all behind should I have to book it and go! There’s only so much you can take with you in a state of emergency. Do you ever think about the TOP things you’d take with you if you were in this situation? Regarding the #MarshallFire and #MiddleForkFire we're located about 3 hrs south of Boulder. If you need a temporary place/evacuation site for your smaller livestock pets etc we have a little bit of land here at the sanctuary where pens could possibly be set up (we'd need the feed/panels to be provided or arranged for). 💜We don't have much but we'll help in any way we can. Please keep everyone who's in the fires path in your thoughts and prayers. We've had to evacuate the sanctuary once before due to a very close wildfire and it's honestly terrifying.
