F1 ACADEMY CHAMPIONS: 2023 — 2024 — 2025
One of the Greats // Florence + the Machine
f1a server saw it first
DO NOT REPOST
Marta García was leading the GT3 category in the Le Mans Cup when Eliseo hit her from behind. Her car crashed into the barrier, ended up in the middle of the track with other cars still coming, caught fire, the door jammed, and Marta inhaled smoke before the marshals managed to get her out. I don’t know how many Gs she took in that impact… but what really gets me is that despite everything and even though it wasn’t her fault (Eliseo even apologized publicly) the comments on Autosport were full of men saying she “can’t drive.” Guys who probably never raced professionally, didn’t watch the race, but have car emojis and Ferrari pics all over their profiles. Pure envy. Marta did nothing wrong in fact, she was having an amazing race. And still, all she gets is ridiculous hate just because she’s a woman. Then people say F1 Academy isn’t needed anymore because “there’s already inclusion.” It’s insane that barely anyone is talking about this. And even worse that Eliseo didn’t get a harsher penalty for that crash.

I hate Sophia Florsch so bad it’s insane
a beginner’s guide to F1 Academy
@teameightseven is actually the one who got me into f1a so feel free to add/correct this :)
formula one group founded f1a to get more exposure and opportunities for girls in motorsport
and susie wolff (the patron saint of women in motorsport) is the managing director and face of f1a
there have been 3 seasons so far
it is a formula 4 level series but it’s not with the fia
drivers can only drive for 2 seasons and must be between 16-25 years old
there’s a netflix series following the 2024 season (i recommend it)
the champions receive a fully funded seat into whatever series they race in next
so far the champions have been marta garcía, abbi pulling, and doriane pin
their races are shorter than f1 races (lasting approximately half an hour)
there are 7 races per season and 2 races per weekend (the first has a reverse grid for the first 8 places and the second is normal)
there are 17 full time seats and one wildcard per race
the wildcard only races for one race just to get exposure but some previous wildcards have gotten seats the season after (like courtney crone, ella lloyd, nina gademan, mathilda paatz etc)
there are 6 teams with 3 drivers per team (prema, rodin, campos, mp, artgp, and hitech tgr)
there’s been a lot of controversy about how effective it has actually been in advancing women’s careers (mostly bc marta isn’t even in open wheel anymore) but honestly it’s too early to really tell
@midnightmoonstarss and @rosesandcars hope this helps <3
