Delivers clear choice for United States Congress in final debate
Tucson - Martha McSally laid out her case for Congress last night on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson. Martha's priority on getting Southern Arizona's economy working again by bringing down the debt, stopping the spending and defending small businesses and families was clear in the final debate of the 2nd District race.
"The choice for Southern Arizona is clear. On one hand you have someone who says that he wants to protect the middle class, defend seniors and stand up for small businesses - yet time and time again votes against our community," said Martha McSally. "For me, this campaign is not about politics. This is personal. I know the individuals that Congressman Barber's votes directly hurt. I will go to Congress and I will vote to defend this community and I will stand for Southern Arizona families."
"I will be on the side of small businesses as they try to pull this economy out of the recession. I will stand with seniors and stop any cuts to Medicare. And I will stand with the middle class and veterans by making sure every American gets tax relief and all benefits are secure. This is my pledge to Southern Arizona. We've seen Congressman Barber's Washington way - he is more interested in his next election than he is with the next generation. I will work for the future of this country and the future of our families in this community. Congressman Barber's tired, old, partisan ways of Washington are a part of the past. It's time to change this country and reform the way we do business, it's time to change direction."
Martha McSally is the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, and first to command a fighter squadron in combat in United States history. In 2001-2002, Martha McSally earned national recognition for successfully overturning a military policy requiring all U.S. servicewomen to wear Muslim clothing when off base in Saudi Arabia.
