"Love you" "I love you too"
SFTH Characters as D&D classes according to me -part 1/however many I do
I'm bored so I've put the SFTH longform playlist on shuffle, and I'm gonna pick a random/fave character and discuss what class I think they'd be in d&d.
DISCLAIMER: For most of this, I will be using D&D 5.5e rules!!! With a few exceptions
The Evil Make-a-Wish Kid #25
Character: Marty Jr.
Ok so my first instinct was a mastermind rogue, cause he definitely gives off those vibes, lots of manipulation through spoken words and carefully laid out plots. However, him as a warlock where his patron is the Evil Make-a-Wish Foundation also would be super fun. In both scenarios I imagine him doing the Foundations bidding, however I am quite torn, as a lot of what Marty achieves is very magical/unnatural. But I also think the idea of him being such an accomplished rogue with the Foundation as his guild almost does his character more justice. Rather than his incredible feats being due to abilities provided by the foundation, its a display of just how adept/proficient Marty is, just how smart and capable he can be to a point where his plans seem impossible for him to have accomplished. Rogue also lends itself more to deception/charisma allowing him to go under the radar and believed by the general population to be innocent.
2. The Creak in the Attic #52
Picking a character was tough for this one, part of me was tempted to go with the obvious John Hobson Sr. as an artificer, but that feels too easy sooo
Character: John Hobson Jr. (Junior)
This one was pretty challenging tbh, I was thinking of picking Melson Nelson, but A. I dont wanna pick the obvious each time, and B. tbh I really don't know where to start with him lmao.
However for Junior, initially I liked him as a wizard, he loved hearing stories, so even though they say "this kid is dense" I reckon he definitely has a passion for learning, and he's curious. However, when delving into subclasses I had a few ideas:
Number 1: Necromancy Wizard - This option no longer exists in 5.5e :(
Feels a bit obvious, but I kind of love it, I mostly want it because I know that if Junior had speak with undead, every casting would just be this scene over and over again:
(Same vibes as that whole first scene in the attic)
Number 2: Sorcerer subclasses also have two good options for him:
I like the idea of John Hobson Sr. passing on some of his knowledge, leading Junior to develop into a Clockwork sorcerer.
However, Junior as an Aberrant sorcerer, with his exposure to Jim leading him to gain his abilities is almost too perfect to pass up. Also if Jim had the ability to give Junior detect thoughts, he'd do it in a heartbeat lmao.
3. The Last Lullaby #64
Characters were hard to choose from tbh, but Penelope feels like she has the most depth/potential options. Henry my instinct is is either Barbarian for rage, or something high in charisma such as a sorcerer or a rogue.
Character: Penelope McPhilip
My first thoughts for potential classes are: Fighter, Monk, or perhaps Rogue. I think her character leans more towards a melee or physical fighter as opposed to a magic user. Now rogue is a questionable one given the whole 'jumping out of the pot too early' scene, however that could also be a great example of the world's most frustrating nat 1 (as a frequent rogue myself, I know the feeling).
I lean towards monk for Penelope, however, if she were a fighter, I think the Champion subclass suits her well, potentially with her gaining this subclass after the end of The Last Lullaby, her drive to win/survive is very strong.
However I like the fit of a couple of monk subclasses for her too, in fact, I can pretty much picture her as any except Warrior of the Elements.
But! I think I like Penelope as a Warrior of the Open Hand Monk the most, both given she spends most of the lf unarmed, but also particularly the idea of relying on herself being a big part of her journey, learning to trust and rely on herself to survive.
Um #MartyMcflyJunior edit? Who gaf?
McFly July: Fanfiction
“What’s that?” Grandpa George’s voice comes from behind Junior.
Junior jumps and switches tabs on his phone in a heartbeat and spins around. “Nothing.”
Grandpa chuckles behind the couch. “Looked like FanFiction.net.”
Junior’s jaw hangs open. “How did you-”
Grandpa moves to sit beside his grandson. “I’ve been writing fanfiction since before the internet. You don’t think I’d jump at the chance to put them out there?”
“Wait, are you saying-”
He smirks, “VulcanWriter55.”
Junior’s eyes become wider saucers, his head short circuiting, “You- you’re-”
George holds his proud smirk before asking casually, “So what were you reading about?”

Day 4: Ice cream truck

Warnings, Tags, A/N: Based on Bo Burnham's story of one of the hardest time he's laughed from the You Made It Weird podcast.
The year is 2012, it's a hot day, and fourteen-year-old Marlene McFly was forced to take her twin brother, Junior, with her while she went out with one of her friends (at the time).
"Honestly, I just hope he doesn't argue with the ice cream guy over the Spongebob ice cream again..." Marlene groaned. Spike chuckled, recounting the time Marlene complained to her over the phone about the incident. Junior was staring at a dog taking a crap across the street until Marlene spoke, then he turned around, his brows furrowed.
"Hey, y'kno- that wasn't even my fault," Junior retorted, voice cracking as he reached back and pulled out the wedgie that had formed in his behind area. Spike just slowly blinked and gazed elsewhere with a look on her face, trying not to laugh or give too rude of a look. Marlene just sighed, already embarrassed, shielding her face from the other people in both their and the other formed line with her hand.
"This guy on YouTube said that they just say that because they're hiding all of the Spongies for themselves," said Junior, who was scratching his chin now with the same hand that dug his pants. "The Illuminati told them to do that because the hydroglycerin or whatever in the blueberry eyes actually change your DNA and can give you superpowers." Spike and Marlene exchanged a look.
"Junior, no more of your nonsense, you're embarrassing me," grumbled Marlene, her face in one of her hands now. Spike simply stood a bit awkwardly. They moved up a step in line.
Junior was distracted by two dogs this time, doing something that a kid probably shouldn't be witnessing. Marlene was grossed out but glad that he stopped talking, so she continued talking with Spike.
"I dunno, Marlene, Griff really isn't a bad guy," Spike argued, looking down at the ground and toying with her hair a bit. Marlene let out a breath of disbelief, turning to her.
"Spike, his grandpa bullies his own grandpa."
"Yeah, but..."
"Oh, my gosh."
In the middle of their conversation, the man in front of them moved up a step, finally getting his turn. They moved up, still speaking, but their voices faded into quiet as the man spoke.
He must have been from around the west country in England--either that or the guy had Tracheitis--and though they'd spoken English for their entire lives, Marlene and Spike could not understand what the man was saying for the life of them. It was like he was constantly putting pressure at the front of his throat and trying to speak without making his teeth or lips touch, or even let his tongue move, and trying to be as monotone as possible. It was pure grated gibberish to them, and they weren't even sure if the ice cream man understood what he was saying.
The two girls looked at each other, silently making an agreement (and a challenge) that they would. Not. Laugh. At this man's voice. He was a foot away from them. It was the most intense staring contest ever, with both of them sweating more from keeping the best poker face they could muster. As the man continued speaking (was it even speaking? they wondered), they even grasped each other's hand, firmly squeezing and putting all of their focus on whatever they could. Eventually, the man finished his droning, and the two girls let out breaths they didn't even know they were holding in.
Junior finally turned back around and stepped up with them, very loudly saying, "Hey, did anyone hear that robot voice?"
Marlene and Spike felt their entire bodies tense up. They didn't even have to look in front of them to know that the man had heard Junior and was probably insulted. But they couldn't help it.
It started out with bottom lips being bitten, shoulders hunched and slightly shaking, deep exhales out the nose, until eventually they both just wheezed their way into an explosion of laughter, covering their mouths with their hands even though it was useless. They were laughing so hard that they were practically yelling and started to lose mobility in their legs, and holding onto each other wasn't enough. They collapsed slowly onto the ground, rolling, literally rolling and roaring with laughter. People stared and they knew it but they just could not care in the moment--they could hardly even breathe.
Once they calmed down enough to sit up on the sidewalk, smiles still on their faces against their will, they looked up at Junior and, when you pair someone who always looks painfully stupid with the lines of vision of two people who are in such a giggly mood they'd find anything funny, they went right into another fit, falling back once more, face hurting from smiling and stomach hurting from laughing so hard.
That is the story of the one time Marlene was perhaps more embarrassing in public than Junior.
