This @domestika class with @marugodas has been so much fun. She taught it in acrylic, but I did the painting in gouache and I was surprised at how much layering of very different colors I could do without the layers running into one another. I also used a different image than the one she taught in the class—in the notes she links to several more examples of similar landscapes she’s posted to Instagram, and I chose this one because it reminds me a bit more of where I live. It’s wild to work in such a different style! More homework for @domestika & @marugodas ‘s Pictorial Sketchbook class. Here, we made paint strips for each tube of gouache (painted in the center) adding white in 2 steps on top and black in 2 steps at the bottom. In my sketchbook, I added the different colors haphazardly in a “Festival of Colors”.
