All About AUs - A Marvel Big Bang

Hello friends, @ufohoaxes here, otherwise known as Noa! If you remember me from somewhere, it is the @poolverine-holiday-big-bang, which I also hosted. Today, I widen the spectrum, to not just one ship, but multiple. The theme of this Big Bang is Alternative Universes - or AUs. And the ship is... any Marvel ship! Yup, any Marvel ship, it doesn't matter what kind. As long as it diverges from the canon, it is allowed. The rules will be listed below under the read more. At the moment of the post, sign-ups are open! As well as the discord server.

Rules are as follows:

1.) No use of AI period. 2.) Any and all Marvel ships are allowed (the only exception is illegal ones.) 3.) The only main requirement is that the premise must be centered around an AU. Think coffeeshop, no powers, hockey, road trip, etc. It must diverge from the canon in some way, shape, or form. 4.) The absolute minimum word count is 5,000 words. If you cannot reach this/might have trouble reaching this, simply reach out to me. I will do my best to accommodate you, especially if this is your first fandom event. 5.) Artists are required one colored piece at least. 6.) Any further questions should be directed towards this blog's inbox, or a direct message to me.

Willoughby & Parker: OLYMPIANS [ part 1 ]

In 2002, Great Britain shocked the world when Benjamin Kenobi and Siri Tachi took gold in the pairs skating competition. Then, just as quickly as the Brits were hurdled into Olympic stardom, Kenobi vanished from the competitive circuit. For the next sixteen years, British skaters tried to live up to Tachi and Kenobi’s reputation, but the pairs skaters’ lifts were lacklustre and the ice dancers’ twizzles fizzled. 

In 2018, that all changed when twenty-one-year-old Willoughby Radcliffe and his twenty-year-old partner, Parker Tate, burst onto the ice dance circuit. Trained by Tachi herself at the Royal Skating Academy, Willoughby and Parker had clean edges on every turn, shocking lifts, and their twizzles were dazzlingly synchronized. It seemed like they cinched their silver medals in PyeongChang with ease.

Now twenty-five and twenty-four, the pair were determined to snag gold in 2022. It had seemed like it would be an easy feat - until their competition showed up at the World Championships. Lurking only a few decimal points behind, nineteen-year-old Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala - the Americans - had come dangerously close pushing Willoughby and Parker off of the first-place spot on the podium. 

“Kenobi and Kryze,” Tachi had muttered afterward, with no small amount of disdain; she’d never quite forgiven Benjamin for quitting on her when they could have taken their Olympic career further. She never achieved more than bronze once she was back skating with Vos.

Suddenly the 2022 Olympics were personal - not just for Willoughby and Parker, but for their coach, who was determined that her ex-partner and his partner of choice wouldn’t see their young skaters steal gold out from under her nose. Not again; not when she could practically taste it for the first time in twenty years. 

With Tachi pushing them harder than ever before, the pair began to question if winning gold on the Olympic stage was truly worth it - and when Parker suffers a fall in training that leaves her with a leg injury mere weeks away from Beijing, Willoughby finds himself doubting his priorities. After all, how can a medal be worth the possibility that Parker may never walk, much less skate, ever again if she doesn’t allow herself the proper time to heal? 

With their coach breathing down their neck, adamant that Great Britain won’t lose out on gold to the United States of America, Parker is determined to skate, risks be damned - and Willoughby has to make a choice. Does he go along with her and risk irreparable harm, or does he refuse to skate and risk Parker - and the entire United Kingdom - never forgiving him for the cost?
