Everybody lock in. This is a fucking essay and I’m making you read about the character closest to my heart right now
Marzipane Comette is my pokemon dnd oc that is from a campaign my friend started where it’s like the regular pokemon world, but special fruits exist like in ONE PIECE. The idea is there’s different fruit types, allowing one to change to a diff species, gain the ability of another species, or to have an additional type. Marzipane (also: Marz, Marzi, Zippy, etc) ate the Engine Engine fruit, gaining the Hadron Engine ability from Miraidon. This is why they further have all of the Miraidon features!

As their ref shows, he’s genderfluid! Marzipane is like if a boy was a girl that was a boy, too. Like, she’s so perfectly everything to me. She has a huskier sounding voice but it’s /JUST/ androgynous enough that y’know, you can’t tell. Personality wise he’s VERY optimistic despite THE HORRORS, and is a generally very cheerful person. The common first impression is that she’s kinda naive and doopid, but spending more time with them makes you learn it’s all sort of a coping mechanism. Nevertheless Marzipane is a really cheerful pokemon to be around. Sometimes a little bit smug and playful in that same way, but still means well.

Marzipane was practically born into an orphanage. He was an odd kid that was just strange, but not exactly socially exiled. From a young age he was adopted by a powerful noble that was looking for a very *specific* type of kid to adopt. Turns out… it was to adopt and create a living weapon.
Along with Marzipane was his “sibling”, a Growlithe (later Arcanine) named Jupitere who was found for the same purpose. Of course, it’s worth my mentioning both were born with different names, but named differently by their adopted father. Jupitere was also the pair’s pioneer for gender fuckery, helping Marzipane realized he liked being referred to and perceived as more than just That. They were very very close siblings while being harshly trained under their specific fruits.
Marzipane’s fruit was eaten at a very young age, and caused lots of heart issues. The Engine Engine fruit being a much rarer breed did imply control would be unstable. Marzipane’s engine basically serves as a second heart, and needing its own special care. This was a lot of Marzipane’s growing up, both being harshly trained as a living weapon while figuring out how to manage this second heart.
It needed constant express, like an engine that could start to misfire or just generally needing constant maintenance. This meant they had LOTS of energy, and needed to burn it off- which led to his hobby and enjoyment of simply running. Running /fast/. Even so, it was hard for Marzipane to control the boundless electricity and energy throughout their body.

After reaching adulthood, the uh. “Large military” of the country found Marzipane and Jupitere’s father guilty of numerous crimes, attempting to arrest him. This led to a lot of messed up stuff, where Marzipane accidentally let loose a LOT of energy as a means of self defense. Their adoptive father presumably dead, along with a LOT of the soldiers, he and Jupitere ran off to escape their home after so long. They managed to live and get by, but one day the government had claimed they captured Jupitere, willing to release them under a “trade” for Marzipane instead.
They chose to be taken in her sibling’s place, unsure of the truth… but all of this led up to the ACTUAL campaign, where Marzipane and a number of other (mostly) wrongful imprisoned attempted an escape from the horrible prison.
The bonds between that group were unlike any she could have experienced prior, and they all sailed off into a new day. Marzipane hopes to reunite with Jupitere someday soon, and holds that hope close to her heart.

In summary, this character means a lot to me. As a personal expression of gender that is boundless, I have a special affinity with him. She’s a charismatic and optimistic face that always greets you with a smile, regardless of the horrors. He’s uplifting, always ready to celebrate her friends and their successes.
Even though they’re still looking to better control the power of the Engine Engine fruit, Marzipane has a heart of gold and would look to use that power for better, if he could. A ‘hero’ by any other name. And for the friends she made in the prison (who, I’ll be honest, is all basically a polycule after all of that.), she will fight for and with to the ends of the earth.
(Sketches by me!)
The campaign was a really short one, basically a two session one-shot that could have gone a tad bit longer had we not taken an early opportunity to ATTEMPT escape. Despite this, Marzipane is genuinely one of my favorite characters I’ve made of all time!
She’s got aura, she’s got heart, he’s a hero, he’s a nobody. A romantic, a big grin all the time. They’re everybody’s friend!
This concludes my tumblr post ask essay about Marzipane Comette. I hope you can understand why she’s so special to me and that this Luxray is the actual best of all time💛⚡️
Another sweet box from my amazing in-laws. Thank you! ❤ These treats never cease to be exciting and super delicious. These marzipan potatoes are so cute! 🍬 #marzipan #potato #kartoffeln #pommesdeterre #marzipane #treats #delicious
Saturday is my new Resinsoul Ming. Even though he's a faun, I named him for the young marid in The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. He just kind of looks saturnine.
I need to take pictures of these kids out in the wild, as my dining room table doesn't seem like an appropriate setting for two fauns.
