MASH You Fickle Beast
This, from TLTC's Ironlung:
MASH is an amazing company and i'll never deny that. they went from a rag-tag group of messengers filming themselves bombing the city to one of the most accomplished multi-discipline crews in the world with an extremely reputable shop and products of the highest quality. everything they do comes from a street-level sensibility, elevated to integrate and compete in the self-important old-school world of professional level cycling. they're amazing, and they're very committed to being SF-centric first and USA-centric second. sure, they've married themselves to cinelli (italy) and atomic22 (UK), but note that any of the minimal products they partner overseas on STILL say "designed in SF" or "tested in SF" and everything else is made in the USA or by hand in SF. they're committed on every level and i love it. that being said, MASH tends to marry themselves exclusively to visual concepts without offering any options. whether or not i'm a fan of the parallax branding from this year or the histogram branding from a couple years back is irrelevant. and the fact that their frames and team kits are only offered in one matching variant for the current year is perfectly in line with cycling culture. what i'm talking about is accessories. why am i forced to wait and wait and wait for them to release short runs of solid-colored or simple branded stuff because they can't lay off the parallax pattern? why are there so rarely any solid-color water bottles or kits or bags or whatever? case in point, the new BOREAS MASH 50L RACEDAY BAG. i absolutely love this bag functionally. i've been wanting to get a large backpack for a year or so now, and feature-wise this bag is perfect — it's super huge, it converts from a backpack to a duffel, it features a separate internal compartment for dirty/wet clothings, and it generally fits all the purposes needed to be served by a travel-by-bike bag. hell, it nearly fits all the purposes required of a heavy-capacity daily hauler bag! i want one desperately, but GAH! THAT FUCKING PARALLAX PATTERN! all i'm saying is that i wish they would offer alternate colorways for those of us who aren't a) a member of their team, or b) into patterns on patterns on patterns. cause man, i would have bought this bag TODAY if there were a black one. _________________ : : : THREE HAND WHITNEY "he's got the engine. he keeps it in his pants." it's a reality of science telephone-people at the steers MAINTAIN UP THE SUPERB OPERATE!
