I feel like one of my more controversial opinions on sexuality is that while nobody needs to prove their sexuality irl, in this age of emerging numbers of queer characters in media and queerbaiting and ‘disney’s 7th first gay character’, queers in (fictional) media….should kinda prove it.

a character slyly saying that hes kissed men before in a half joking tone while drunk does not feel the same as a character waking up next to a dude he just had gay sex with and slapping his ass

And no, before anyone says it, I do not think they need to have sex or sexual attraction specifically to prove anything. I’m ace myself. but there are piles of ways of showing romantic affection in a way thats Clearly And Unequivocally romantic. Not in a way that could be a joke. Not in a way that could be construed as non-canon or them just pretending. Not in a blink-and-you-miss-it way. Clearly. Unequivocally. Its so easy. pick one of 1000 ways to show affection to a romantic partner and put it in there jesus christ is it that hard

saying ‘prove it’ to a bisexual (or anyone else) irl is invasive and not needed and rude and they dont need to prove anything to you

saying ‘prove it’ about a character claimed to be bisexual isn’t asking to prove their sexuality, its asking to prove if they are actually bisexual representation or just another queerbaity kinda-hinted-at ‘for the gays but not too offensive’ character
