Short version: @elenatria accompanied me to Salzburg to see August Diehl on stage in "Der Schneesturm". Of course, the emotional support plushies were with me too! @stitchybutton
And Woland is with his very kind and patient big original now!
@cool-corvo-attano accompanied us spiritually 🥰❤️
Long story:
Even though I 'm from Germany, I come from the north and it was a longer journey to Austria, but I was in very good company.
We arrived late at night during a downpour (the boys stayed dry, unlike us) and used the next day to explore Salzburg.
I was haunting the city with the devil in my arm and got a LOT of stares and questions, but people are always friendly around plushies, I assure you!
Halfway up a steep mountain, I collapsed with the two of them at the side of the path and waited until Elena came back and weirded out other tourists in the meantime.
(Wonderful art on the T-shirt by @sosooley 🥰)
Then it was almost time for the play to start, and what can I say, haha, unfortunately I was too excited to take any more photos. I'm so glad we were there; it's just a gift to see him on stage. I'm not a big theatre expert, but oh my God, the way this man gave his all on stage really got to me. I've never seen anyone act so intensely and captivatingly before. Seeing him on stage is truly a unique experience; I can't put it into words.
As @elenatria can attest, I'm terrible at interacting with people I admire too much. xD But I was super brave! And before the play, I dared to approach the devil and introduce him to his mini version. He took him with him right away, thanked me, and was really very friendly! I don't have any photos, you'll just have to believe me! 😁
(Actual picture of me approaching August Diehl with Woland plushie.)
After the play, we took a photo to remember the occasion, as you can see, just with the Master, as Woland had already been handed over and August rightly pointed out that the two are now separated! But at least not in the photo, where the Master can look melancholically at the tall Woland! (And I'm kind of there too.)
I jokingly told him that he could take the master with him if he would see Yevgeny soon, to which he naturally replied: No, no... BUT IT HAD BEEN A BEAUTIFUL TIME WITH HIM. (Don't quote me on the exact (German) wording, I tried very hard not to faint and to just... exist haha.)
(I'm just like, oh my God, sorry, and thank you so much, and your Woland really means a lot to me, and he just, yeah, you can tell. 😬😂❤️❤️❤️)
After this wonderful evening, I couldn't sleep at all, of course, but at least I still had the support of a sad writer. (On whom I may have been lying.)
The last day we spent just wandering around the area, now without Woland! Bonding experience with the master.
Some Austrian beer tasting.
Misha meeting Misha.
🏳️🌈
Aaaaand I'm on the way back home now, thank you for reading my little travel diary I kept myself busy with while the Deutsche Bahn delayed my trains. 😁❤️
(And this amazing art on the shirt is by @swedish-meatballs 🥰)
And look at all these tattoos! Did I mention there will be a fitting addition soon. 😈😁❤️
I’ve made you up
(Made you up)
With nothing better to do
Whilst it was raining.
It’s so dull to sing until the morning waiting for dawn
I squeezed my eyes shut and made you up.
A person named Woland has really existed but never been the Devil. He's just a German professor (or maybe even a spy) who actually arrived in Moscow for work.
He and the Master only meet once – at Griboedov's, but the Master gets so impressed by the casual acquaintance that starts writing a novel about "the Devil who no-one believes in and who decides to visit Moscow personally". Over time, because of all the stress, the writer begins losing his mind and suffering from hallucinations. But even having been taken to prison and then mental hospital, he keeps writing his book.
Whereas Woland finishes all his business in Moscow, gets back to Germany and lives there relatively calmly (it's still the 1930s, isn't it). And he won't ever know there's a half-crazy soviet writer who's right now writing a novel all about him as Satan and hallucinates him coming around.
