One of my favourite jokes in atla is when Toph's dad hires Xin Fu and Master Yu to very obviously bring Toph back to him safe and sound. And then the next time we see Xin Fu he's telling people she's wanted dead or alive and Yu is just like "no she's not what the fuck is your problem""

Slugtember Day 14: Dawn
Long abandoned by the very slug that saved his great ancestor, Master Yu toils away, muttering his goals to an aging statue of the helpful slug.
He proclaims he will prove that his family deserved the same rightful powers granted to the ancestor and all her descendants outside his own direct bloodline.
He will become a healer... no not a healer... a god.

For @atlararepairmonth — “What Family Means” and “Hobbies” with those two guys who were hired to capture back Toph — Xin Fu and Master Yu (ft. their young niece Toph).
AU in which Xin Fu becomes a Beifong bodyguard for money and ends up meeting one of the most whiny and annoying prissy man in the world — Master Yu (and gradually falls for him). The two have a sort of married couple vibes with how much they bicker and annoy with each other (much to Toph’s annoyance having to be stuck with them 24/7).
Though there are occasions when things are nice, easy, and peaceful between the two men. Particularly when after Toph’s lessons, or between breaks outside, they would sit on a hill and make flower crowns with Xin Fu as the subject to such “childish nonsense” (all while falling just s bit more at the way the older man laughs and smiles).
