Info for the Mastermind Sonia au!
So! Tbh the fun thing about any sdr2 mastermind au is because of all the cannon remnant stuff any of the cast could have easily been the one to fill the mastermind role and it still would have made sense. So I don’t think anything would need to differ from cannon until the last trial.
It was ages ago I was first thinking all this up so forgive me if I’ve forgotten something lol, but here’s how I sort of think it would go.
Everyone in the last trial is trying to uncover the mastermind, and while they’re pretty sure it must be Worldender/Future Foundation, Hajime says for completion's sake they need to go over if any of those in the game could have been doing it (despite the others protests). At the beginning of the game Sonia, Fuyuhiko, and Twogami commanding organizations that could have had the power/influence to run the game was brought up so they’d likely go over that again, but eventually that would turn to who could have actually made everything.
They’ve seen some crazy advanced machinery and cybernetics during the game, monokuma himself is enough of an example for that, so who could have built it all? Out of their class, there’s really only one person with the know-how, and he just so happens to have somehow made it all the way to the final trial despite the odds, isn’t that weird?
Things get very loud and ridiculous as it’s made clear Hajime is basically accusing Kazuichi of being the mastermind. Kaz himself freaking out, Fuyuhiko and Akane rushing to defend him (‘have you seen the limp noodle of a man?? No way could he be the mastermind!!’), and Hajime trying to explain.
Eventually they come up against the biggest hole in Hajime’s theory, that being the why of it. If Kazuichi did this it wouldn’t have been without a reason, and no one can think of a motivation. Not fully sure what makes it finally click yet, but it dawns on Hajime, Fuyuhiko, and Akane that there already is someone on the island they’ve seen that Kazuichi will do practically anything for, without question or complaint.
That’s when Sonia gets to do her big reveal and costume change, proudly declaring that she was the mastermind running things, and everyone else should really start bowing.
Then it’s a lot of monologuing, info like she had her memories the whole time but didn’t give Kazuichi his back until the third trial (explaining why he was so distrustful of Hajime in the funhouse bc who the heck is this guy he wasn’t a remnant or in their class why is he here???), and of course dropping the whole ‘haha you guys are secretly evil too!’ Remnant bomb.
I think that reveal would be much more impactful coming from one of their own, since Sonia and Kaz clearly being so different would add credibility to the claims. Personally I would love if Sonia had enough control on the program to like, snap her fingers and put everyone else in their remnant outfits just to really drive the point home, but that might just be the remnant brain rot talking lol.
Around then is probably when Junko’s AI would have to come on the scene, and shortly after the thh survivors from the future foundation. From that point it probably follows the same Hajime: oh no I’m Izuru Kamakura and talentless everything is terrible forever! Chiaki somehow: no you’re awesome:) Hajime: yay hope! Formula from cannon lol, and the program gets shut down.
That’s what I’ve got so far! There’s still a few things I’m not sure about, like if Sonia should get a full blown execution, or if it would be better to change things earlier on so that Gundham can be in the final trial for maximum emotional affect lol.
