Master of Illusions AU notes (spoilers for all life series)
so basically, xelqua is a god. god of creation, culture, and illusion. xelqua became a god after grian hung out in evo and like did watchery stuff, and xelqua was the one that responded and built the stuff, so the other watchers (hermitcraft members) let him ascend to god hood
now, he created life series for entertainment, because he and the other watchers were getting kind of bored, so all the watchers took non watchers in hermitcraft and some others to put in the death game to play
you may be thinking, harmony you dumb dumb, xelqua IS grian, so that doesn't make sense! well, not in my au!
xelqua is the master of illusion, remember? so, after evo ended and xelqua accended to godhood, he wanted a disguise because he didnt know how to hide his watchery features yet, so he chose the person that helped him with the game they didnt even know they were playing, grian, of course.
xelqua possess grian, changes his outfit to the red jumper and cut his hair to emmulate xelqua's form a bit, and to not draw too much suspicion he puts himself into the death games
then what happened to grian? he's still there, just locked away in his own mind. if xelqua gets too bored, then he lets grian mess around.
the real grian shines through in the raw moments, the softer, more delicate and caring version where chaos grian is mostly xelqua.
you can tell whose in control by grian's eyes. his eyes are naturally black but when xelqua possesses him, the pupils go to purple slits. when grians in control, they turn white
sometimes, they can be in co-control, where grian talks and xelqua moves. that's what happened in the cactus ring and how grian was beating scar by such a strong amount. xelqua was doing the fighting while grian was doing the screaming and crying, because grian is actually getting attatched to the other lifers, and maybe xelqua is warming up a little bit too
in the end, xelqua's goal is to provide entertainment for the other watchers and just have a good time.
xelqua and grian are slowly getting along better, and you can tell because grian is slowly slipping into xelquas chaotic side while xelqua leans back on the total violence a bit until it truly matters. but it still doesn't change the fact that xelqua is holding grian hostage in grians mind.
most lifers don't notice, but because scar hangs out with grian so often, he's slowly catching on.
xelqua is a little menance, and after figuring out most peoples fighting or flighting personalities after third life, he assigns each lifer with some kind of animal or organism if he sees fit. if the lifer is in any server with grian/xelqua, in the time that grian/xelqua is in the server with them, they will get the animal parts from the life game as a little tease
bdubs is actually part mechanical, and thats because of xelqua. xelqua saw how bdubs would do anything for a clock, betrayal, all of it, so, xelqua made sure that he'd have the clock forever.
in last life on his red life, bdubs is sent to the watcher realm for a few seconds and sees the real xelqua who rips his head apart and replaces a lot of his body with gears. the black eye bdubs usually has is clock hands in this au.
bdubs finds out what the watchers are, and tries to tell someone, anyone, but no one listens because he's usually too aloof/boy who cried wolf
bdubs actually liked the clock, so when bdubs died that game and goes back to hermitcraft, he prays to the watchers that he keeps the clock.
in double life? yeah, he keeps the clock and mechanical parts. every once and a while he has to pour oil into his eye socket though and that gets kind of weird (now on his red life, the half side of his face starts melting off so side affects may apply!!)
other character that are notable are tango, skizz, impulse, and cleo. they were already the hybrids of bombadier beetle, dove, demon, and zombie. impulse's wings were bound so he can't fly and engineering/electric powers are reduced to speedily putting down redstone, skizz's wings are just naturally burnt so he can't fly, cleo is just cleo, and tango CAN still explode, but after the life series he's kind of come to hate the beetle part of him, so he tries to scratch the glands off his arms but it doesn't work, so he's just cut the flesh off that part of his arm, and most of it is just scars in hermitcraft.
joel is on perma-red after last life. xelqua just thought it was funny because of how naturally blood thirsty he was. basically, joel is already technically red on his green life (in my au, the colour of your blood represents your life), so his blood is red. on his double red life, his blood starts like, radiating and glows. but because theres soooo much blood in his body on red, if he laughs too hard, cries, coughs, gets stabbed or anything like that, blood will just exessively spray out of his mouth/eyes. occasionally, his venom (hes a scorpion) will just be blood but still works as venom. all of his senses are heighted so much that he's just hyper paranoid all the time, except his vision, which gets blurry on his double red life
winners are kept in the world they won in if they die early in the life games, with all injuries/way they died present, which means scar is just chilling lol
etho is a bit special, because yeah, he's a diamond back rattle snake, but his most notable power is the power to make like... red stars? when he gets really mad/irritated, not only withh his tail rattle, his red eye will get a star thing over it which makes it really hard to hide his emotions, even with mask. (like think of that one jojo pose and the sparkle over the eye) he also has super fast growing hair, and learned to cut his hairstyle himself. in moments he doesnt have scissors, like in the life series, he can summon a star and use it as a hairstick. except when it's used as a hairstick, it can't go over his eye and so instead the star will flare/glow when he gets mad. he can also turn the hairstick/star into a makeshift sword if he's in danger but is unarmed. it doesn't do a lot of damage, and at most can give you death by 1000 paper cuts or a broken arm. if anyone else tries to grab any of the stars, it will phase through their hand and through the earth and into orbit and stuff. etho can pull it back though. etho doesn't even know how HE does it lol
cause he's a snake, his pupils narrow to slits when any strong emotion and i just thought that was cool lol. also his fangs are retractable, and lay on the roof of his mouth when not in use. it means that there are two teeth in his mouth that look like theyre gone and it makes his smile super teenagery if you know what i mean
