Alright, it appears that somebody is getting real heated over this last story. I believe this bears addressing, but not without putting it under a cut, because 1) not everybody wants to see this, and 2) Buddy I'm Only Gonna Say This Once.
Short version: Anon has taken issue with the characterization of Masterson King. For convenience, I have renumbered their objections.
The author has written a transfeminine character who:
1. Is overtly angry
2. Tops, and has no bottom dysphoria, which wasn't even addressed despite plenty of Wren's dysphoria being talked about in length.
3. Talks about "hunger for cock" to zir sexual partners, is basically a chaser's dream (see above).
4. Snaps, slaps the poor ol' tme and storms off in rage at the end
5. Does the author really think this totally non transmisogynistic caricature is apolitical?
6. And that's not even touching on clocking someone by their boobs, nor on the completely terrible agab language.
7. I must have missed the trigger warning for fetishization, gee.
To be blunt: I am a transgender woman. I'm not going to talk about my own dysphoria, nor my personal preferences, but I will say that this is a work of adult fiction. It leans into problematic, fetishizing tropes because it's a porn scenario gone wrong.
Masterson King is "overtly angry" because ze comes from a hostile corporate environment where life is cheap... whereas Wren is an awful little gremlin who gets off on being smacked around instead of playing along with zir fantasies.
King no longer experiences dysphoria because ze has biohacked zir own HRT and uses fashion to flout gender norms in a way ze finds personally satisfying.
You are complaining about porn dialogue in a porny scenario. (As for "chaser's dream"... see above! I AM A TRANS WOMAN! **I** dreamed it up!)
Neither character came off in a positive light here. Both parties verbally consented to rough play, but neither actually communicated their interests clearly, because both of them are cocky idiots.
No, not at all. There are simply circumstances where transgression can be exciting. Like in erotic fiction.
King clocks Wren that way because ze is a misogynist. Transgender misogynists exist, in much the same way that some queer people are homophobic. I am not saying that all trans women are misogynists. Nor do I think that either of these characters would be exempt from transmisogyny.
I didn't think to add a warning for that, because I'm a transgender woman, and none of my beta readers (also trans women!) took offense to the material in question.
The MxTape deals with adult topics, including sex. I endeavor to provide adequate content warnings to my readers, and if I fell short in that department, I apologize. That said: I will not tolerate this kind of condescension. Don't presume that I haven't done my research, or that I'm some kind of irresponsible, self-hating queer. Nothing could be further from the truth.
