[ NAGRA - AWAKE ]
_HÄXAN : THE WITCH
-AVDELNING I - FLYGPLAN II
"The ancient Egyptians believed that high mountains Surrounded land and water on all sides-"
"_The sky was believed to be made of steel and supported by strong pillars That rested on the high mountains The stars like lamps, hung from the sky on ropes-"
"_According to the beliefs of other ancient civilizations The sky was vaulted and the earth shaped into terraces-"
Reason 1002 I am kooler than you.
When swapping in the speakers I want in my Green Electric Amps 4x12 (AKA the Lorax House Party Sound System) I added a little touch from the heart for the heart of my cab, the soundpost. Putting it on it would be frontin'. Putting it inside where nobody sees it is walking the walk.
Wish all 4x12 cabs had them, it's a defining mark of quality construction, and what separates the best cabs from the rest of the pack. Both those, and the recessed input jack plates like on Marshall cabs so you don't have to worry about fucking up the jack or speaker plug if it tips or the stack gets knocked over should be the norm on 4x12's, not rare.
How's it sound? Motherfucking amazing. Benchmark level piano like clarity in all registers, but with both pair of speakers being over 20+ yrs old there is not one bit of strident, cold, or sterile tone I have heard come out of it. The H100's have just enough of that Celestion chime and midrange kerrang to sweeten the highs and add some nice cutting grind to overdriven tones.
I have played in A std, D std, and E std so far, and from the lowest to the highest there is no flab in this cab, but no ice pick upper mids or highs either. I have played Metal, Rock, Reggae, Surfy roots rock, and finger style Gypsy Jazz and everything sounded fantastic.
For reference I have;
A vintage late '70s Fane loaded Hiwatt 4x12
A vintage JCM 800 Bass 4x12 with 55hz G1265's (my new favorite Celestion ever fwiw).
A Mesa Traditional with WGS ET90 and ET65.
A Lopo Sig 4x12 with Fane AXA12'S and Celestion G12H30's (55hz)(painted to match my Green Cab and Matamp GT150, big sexy 150 watt green and black full-stack for the win).
And an Avatar Vintage 4x12 (Bogner 4x12B copy) loaded with alnico EV SRO 12's and Fane Medusa 30's. I had one of the Bogner 4x12B cabs for years, and without the name badge I would never be able to tell the difference if I tried. They are built exactly the same.
This cab sounds as good as any of them, but each sounds different from the others. Out of all of them this and the Avatar are the most immediate, punchy, and insanely clear sounding. Both are able to take around 400 watts rms, the Green cab is slightly clearer, a little more scooped and percussively punchy, while the Avatar has a sweeter and fatter midrange grind with chainsaw like cut, and almost as much bottom end (trust me, not missed one little bit), with plenty of beautiful sweet highs.
I have played a Hiwatt DR103 and DR504 (both 4 input 4xEL34 versions), and a Matamp GT150 (150 watts 4xKT88) all set with everything on 10, and I cannot make either of those two cabs flatten out into a mushy midrange mess and fart out, not even with a big sounding fuzz or distortion before them. They just keep getting louder, and ballsier, but never uncontrolled and harsh.

There’s a market for epic looking rigs but that work at home volumes. Who doesn’t want the depth and range of a 2x12 or dare I say it a 4x12 without a court injunction from the neighbours. Repost from @thezerofret - Awesome shit from @mrreefersutherland - always tag your vintage gear
