Timothy hadn’t ever ice skated before. Back in Kansas it would have been on a pond and that just sounded like a bad idea, and now Timothy just had never thought of doing it. Until now. “Okay, on a scale of 1-10 how hard would you say ice skating is?” Timothy asked as someone sat down next to him, “Because I kind of want to try it out, but I also don’t want to fall.”

Miguel watched with a smile as Demetri energetically told one of the guests about the latest Lego set that the two of them had put together. “You know, if his passion continues, I could easily see him getting into lego set designing,” Miguel chuckled as he took a drink of punch to the person next to him, “I think that he’d be pretty good at it.”

Emerald wasn’t really sure how she felt about having Yule - or that she had invited the people from Matched. Normally, she would have loved the excuse to party, to share her rituals, and to welcome in the year. But with everything that had happened, she was still anxious of her mother coming and ruining things, or that whoever had leaked the information to the tabliod had shown up so instead of being in the center of things Emerald found herself near the refreshments table. “So my sister’s Wassail is super strong this year, just a warning,” she said as someone came to fill their cup, “She added double the alcohol she normally did so if you don’t want to get wasted, the pot on the other table is alcohol-free.”

Aidan had been ice skating with Sadie for a couple hours when he decided he needed a break. And while he knew the little girl thought that she could go on for hours, she probably needed one too. So he directed her to the crafts table and watched as he drank a hot chocolate. “You know, I think I’m getting too old for ice skating,” Aidan chuckled to the person next to him, “I don’t remember it causing me to hurt this much before.”

After getting her phone confiscated from Kalani for checking way too many times, Talia had almost forgotten it until the ceremony was over and the reception was under way. She wasn’t looking for it when Talia pepped it behind a centerpiece only to pluck it quickly to check her notifications. She wanted to make sure there were no signs of Lila stepping foot near her wedding. Especially after the dinner rehearsal fiasco. Talia knew Amber had taken care of it but the interior designer couldn’t help but feel nervous. When she felt someone approaching, Talia opened the front camera and began applying her lipstick. “Just...touching up! As much as I love my veil, it was nice to put it to the side for the rest of the night!”

Kalani held his hands around a piping hot cup of cocoa. “Feels a little weird to be here,” he said to the person nearest him. “A lot of this is for kids and families, and I’m already done Christmas shopping. But I was curious about these Matched meet-ups.”

I’m all for being pressed into service here as a foster parent, but at the same time... is anybody else suddenly starting to second-guess every decision they’ve made in the last week or so?

If nothing else, this storm has taught me that I need to brush up on my cooking skills. Or perhaps, expand them. I thought we stocked up well, but I’m starting to run out of things to put together. I guess it’s time to get creative... or survive off mac ‘n’ cheese. How’s everyone else doing?
