im going to jump off of my bed and lay on the flooooor
made it to class on time which is like. an achievement considering up until monday i believed class started at 11:25 (it did not)
Honestly, what is the difference between MATH 102 and 103 and 104 and 105. I know that math 102/103 have applications to life sciences and 104/105 has applications to social sciences and commerce. How are they different in terms of difficulty. I'm planning on pursuing med school however, I'm not very strong in math and because they are all equivalent to each other, should I just take 104/105 because I heard that its generally easier, or is that just a lie? Thanks!
I don’t know how different all the maths are exactly because I’ve only ever taken one of each and only know about their grades, which are available on UBC PAIR grades.
You can use PAIR to see the past averages of the past years to help you better determine which MATH you want to take.
In general, I’ve also heard that Math 104/105 are easier…but again, this is based on grades because I don’t know anyone who has personally taken BOTH 102&104, 103&105 to give a more detail, accurate comparison.
Pharmaceutical sciences, recommends taking Math 102+103 for first year. But they are currently full, so which maths would you recommend taking? And would you recommend that I take them eventually?
You can take any other math courses that are equivalent:

If Pharmacy wants you to take them then you should take them.
I personally think 103 is the easiest for math 101/103/105 (this year). The midterm average for one section was 80%!
Thanks!
In math class
My teacher is going over the homework and literally didn't know how to do the last problem. He's now using my homework to teach the class because I showed him how to do the problem when he asked the class if any of us knew. 3/7/14
I took math 103 last year and lots of people walked out the final crying lol. I knew my stuff and studied pretty hard and I did everything I could in less than an hour. And felt sad for the remaining 1.5. I think everyone got around 20-30% on it unscaled and then they scaled up. And we had math labs that were brutal (101/104 didnt have them), but I heard they're not doing them this year!
The math labs for 103 were annoying for sure! I guess the general consensus on this page is that 103 is the hardest of the integral calculus courses! =P
i took 101 and my friend took 103, I would say that the topics taught were the same for the most bit, just last few chapters were diff. pros of 101 over 103, some great math profs, greg martin is awesome, and the textbook is really clear, 103 did not have a textbook. Cons would be 101 goes at a faster rate, and the average is higher cause of all dem engineer kids, 103 had hella low averages for exams, literally everyone I knew went out of the 103 final saying that they failed, but profs scale it
Haha yeah…when I took 103 it felt pretty hard too…especially since my friends in 105 were all like ‘YOUR MIDTERM AVERAGES WERE IN THE 50s? OURS WERE IN THE 80s!”
