Other witches having practices that are very different or even polar opposites from yours and them simply sharing how they do things is not attacking or invalidating how you do things.

If nobody is getting hurt, if no bigotry is involved, then different is just different, not better and not worse.

You don't have to agree with anybody. You can just keep doing your own things. We're different people and we all have our own reasons for how we roll.

And as we grow and change, our crafts grow and change with us.

Witches, listen to me.

It's more than ok to take a break.

It's necessary even.

I haven't done witchcraft since February, and you know what? I'm not worried. It'll be here, like it always is, when I'm all rested up and ready to jump in again.

Life happens to us all.

You don't have to practice constantly, and you're still a witch.

When I first took up the witch title, I literally had nobody to ask.

In 2012, Social media wasn't like it is today. I was the only witch in my life. I had no social network, certainly no Witchblr (if it even existed at the time).

So I tried things out, based on what I already knew. I didn't start calling myself a witch until age 25, but I already had things that I could use. I knew folk magic. My grandmother was a medicine woman and she taught me things. I knew spirituality. I knew folklores. I knew my native land and her people. I knew the ways of my ancestors. I had the internet, Google, and my background.

I fucked around and found out.

I encourage you to do the same. Go with what you already know, work with what you already have, and just try things out. Who should be going around giving permissions to witches for doing witchcraft anyway? No one, is the answer.

You are your own witch, your own magic.

Not going to lie though, most if not all of the posts that are complaining about the advanced practitioners not being readily willing to help out the beginner practitioners seem to me to fall into one or both of these categories:

It's our personal responsibilities to mentor and educate whomever should come our ways.

We ought to be required to answer every single question asked of us.

Both, if you were to think about it for just a moment, are some serious entitlement, and neither is a realistic or practical or fair expectation of anybody, least of all, complete strangers on the internet who don't even know you, who don't owe you their time, and why should they be tasked with doing all of your work for you.

This is not even mentioning the numerous times when many of us have responded to people asking for our help, only to end up bombarded with hate responses and messages because they weren't what people wanted to hear. And that's why, so many of us stopped bothering all together and just keep to ourselves with our mutuals, because we actually want to have a pleasant time on social media and we really don't need unnecessary crap in our lives because too often y'all forget we're real humans behind the screens and the usernames.

"Can you teach me..." I'm sorry, no, I can't.

There's a reason why my public school teaching career ended for good when I got sick. I have neither the mental nor physical capacity to be responsible for another's education, children or adults.

I'm flattered that you're willing to put your faith and trust in me, I appreciate you and wish you all the best. But I don't have the spoons to be a mentor right now.

There are seasoned and experienced witches who are trustworthy and willing to share information with you for free or for small prices as content creators and/or indie authors. Don't fall for scams that want you to think you need to pay an astronomical fee for knowledge.

Do I think being a witch has made me a better person?

Yes. I think being a witch has led me to who I am today, has helped me discover myself and gain my confidence, has shaped my identity, beliefs, and values, and has contributed to my healing.

But this is a process that's taken nearly a decade and a half of finding myself and my place in this world. It didn't automatically happen the second I picked up the witch title all those years ago. And I've had a lot of help along the way.

Witchcraft isn't a magic pill that's going to automatically make you a better version of yourself. That shit takes time and work.
