Die Hard 4.0 (Live free or die hard for the yanks) did something very important: give McClane a guy to bounce off of. By himself, sure he’s got one liners and some cool action scenes but that’s like it. With Matt there he’s got a good quality foil. He can inspire with his Dad-Movie-Paragoness. He can form a bond of mutual respect with someone he doesn’t share anything aside from a race and gender with. He has extra objectives that aren’t exclusively “kill guy to stop thing” since the “stop thing” bit is dependent on letting this beanpole sit and concentrate.
Okay, seeing as the Zukka v. Sethon poll currently has ~8x as many votes as any other poll, there is a SLIGHT possibility that I MAY have miscalculated and that Zukka MIGHT be in danger of destabilizing the entire bracket.
Should Zukka be disqualified?

I know I’m going to like a Justin Long movie if he’s a long haired, smart-mouthed twink on a road trip with someone he has to survive a life or death situation with while also trading insults.
How did I spend my Thanksgiving you might ask? Well, I found myself watching Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard. I realized when Kennie JD covered in her Bad Movies and a Beat the most recent film with Justin Long that you know, I haven't actually sat down and watched Live Free or Die Hard in years and its kind of one of my guilty pleasure films.
So watching it today was lovely, I really enjoyed it. Not from it being like an objectively good movie prospective because I wouldn't classify it as that. It has so many plot holes, the government makes idiotic decisions, the terrorists are incredibly incompetent for supposedly being a bunch of smart guys and also make idiotic decisions but what can I say, I just really enjoy this movie. I love watching John having to go on this adventure basically across the East Coast trying to stop cyberterrorism he knows next to nothing about while protecting this young hacker kid who accidentally contributed to it. I am a sucker for bodyguard type stories, what can I say, I love them. I love the idea of being protected and I love in these stories when the protected, through their adventure, kind of figure out who they are, what they stand for and learn how to be a protector themselves, they learn that there is a hero in them.
So yes, while I'm not a big Die Hard franchise fan, this film has a special place in my heart because of its bodyguard dynamic because of the journey Justin Long's character Matt Farrell goes through, I love it. And I'm always down for watching it whenever the idea goes through my head. Again, not a good movie objectively speaking, probably not the best Die Hard film either but like I said I'm not going to be a good judge of that as I'm not really a big fan of the franchise, but it checks my boxes on things I like to see in stories so I can't apologize for loving this film for that.
And now I'm going to bury myself in Die Hard 4 fanfiction because I just want to read more about Matt's introspection on the hero's journey he just went through.
Imagine your boyfriend’s face falling when he goes to rescue you from Gabriel and sees the cyberterrorist contently eating your pussy.
“This is like having a pinecone shoved in my ass,” said Matt for the second time that day.
“You can ask Thomas to put something else there, if you want.”
Crossover n°54: Matt Farrell (Live Free or Die Hard), Q (James Bond Movies), Penelope Garcia (Criminal Minds),& Abby Sciuto and Timothy McGee (NCIS)
Imagine those lovely nerds playing online together.
Matt: Alright, guys! This game is gonna be hard, but we’ll win!
Q: Don’t worry, comrades! I’ve prepared strategies to ensure us the victory!
Garcia: I’m ready, guys! Start whenever you want!
Abby: I’m in (talks to Tim) Come on, McGee! It will be fun!
McGee: Why did I accept to be in this mess? Oh, whatever... Let’s play!
