MASTERLIST
Sighing deeply, you grab your keys out of your bag. The ringing only makes you feel worse as you open the door. You enter your apartment you share with matt, and drop your work bag on the floor. With a toss, you get rid of your coat.
You're in a bad mood. Everything's too much, tiny sounds sound amplified, your clothing feels like sandpaper on your skin and your hair keeps touching your face, and tucking it behind your ear just won't work. Tiny things grow bigger and it makes you want to bawl your eyes out.
Matt had a free day, and had waited all day to wrap his arms around you. Happily, he stands up as he hears you come inside. "hey darling"
You feel like you're overflowing, and can't get anything out other than mumbling "I'm sorry.... I'm sorry" as you walk past him, into the bedroom.
Stumped, Matt follows you. Did I do something wrong? He thinks to himself. "darling?" he asks as he watches you go through the closet.
You need to change. you need to get into comfortable clothing, because this blouse you're wearing feels like sandpaper, and the only thing you can think about is taking it off.
Your mind is racing, and you don't even notice matt walking up to you. He grabs your wrist. "Are you okay? Your heart is-" he stops abruptly as you pull away. You fasten your tempo and quickly grab a pair of sweats and a big t-shirt and rush your way into the bathroom, leaving matt alone in the bedroom.
You close the door behind you. Your hand hovers over the lock. You sigh. You don't want to lock him out entirely. As you start to change, your hair keeps falling onto your face and you feel more and more agitated. You let out an annoyed grunt.
With now only a shirt, your bra, and underwear on, you decide to give up and turn on the shower. A wave of tiredness falls onto you as take a step towards the warm water and sit down. You let your head fall onto your knees and close your eyes, waiting for the horrible feeling to go away.
After a minute or two, there's a soft knock at the door. "y/n?". After not receiving an answer, he opens the door. Without saying anything, he sits next to you. The grey t-shirt he's wearing turns dark, and you sigh deeply. "You wanna talk about it?"
You lift up your head. You rest it against the wall. "yeah..."
"What's on your mind, angel?"
"It all so much, matt. Everything was just too much. Not sleeping last night did not help, and when I arrived at work, that prick was working as well. I... I had to swallow so much, because, honestly, if I didn't, I'm pretty sure I'd be in jail right now. And... I yelled at my boss. My boss, matt. He's gonna fire me, and I'll be jobless and-"
"Hey, slow down... You're okay. He won't fire you after one slip-up. And besides, you're good. Your boyfriend is a lawyer."
A small smile appears on your face. He seems to relax a little as he notices his gentle voice has calmed you down.
Matt moves up, and turns the shower off, and sits back down next to you. You're both soaking wet. You place your head on his shoulder and you sigh. "thank you"
He wraps his arm around you. "Are you feeling better?"
"Aside from getting cold, yeah."
He stands up and puts his hand out for you. You take it and stand up. He picks up a towel. He starts drying you gently, still testing the limits. After you're relatively touch-dry, you two walk into the bedroom and change into comfortable stuff.
"You ok?" Matt says, as he notices your quietness. "Yeah... I guess. I'm exhausted."
He takes a step backward and signals for you to lay down. You take the hint, and lay down on your back.
Matt is practically an expert when it comes to sensory things. Dealing with his new ability, he found out ways to calm down overstimulatedness, as he has been a victim to it numerous times. He would make a cup of tea for himself, or place a weighted blanket on him. Since there was no weighted blanked for him to use right now, he figured he would be the next best thing.
He gently places himself on top of you, carefully putting his arms around you. At first, you're a little confused, but notices this really seems to calm you down. You sigh again deeply, as you place your hand on his head and weave your fingers into his hair and start caressing it, causing him to calm down as well. You close your eyes, and feel your body going from tense to relaxed.
You nuzzle your face into his neck. Your turn your head, and look at him. He looks back at you. "What?" He says softly to you with a smile.
summary: besides his scars and failures, all you can see it’s him.
warning: no use of y/n. fluff!!! mention to scars and violence but briefly, a hint of angst but i swear there is fluff fluff. but maybe a little of hurt/comfort? in a good way though!
You couldn’t sleep.
You tried, you really tried. But every time you tossed and turned in bed, all you saw was Matt.
As you always did every night, you waited for him to go to sleep. Sitting at his sofa with a good and warm cup of tea resting in your hands, you watched his windows patiently.
It wasn’t like it bored you. In fact, when it all began, he insisted for you to not wait for him but you made clear that you would do it anyway. And after some months, he’d just accept it, returning home and finding you while you finish your fifth tea.
And every night, he made sure to point out that you put a lot of honey in your tea.
And every night, you would drink it anyway.
This night you waited for him, as usual. When he arrived, on your almost tenth tea, he let you cup his face as you soft muttered if he was okay.
And as usual, he answered with a quiet yes and you check him up anyway before going to bed.
However, now beside him, knowing he was all right, safe and sound... You can’t close your eyes and rest. Every time you dared to close your eyes, visions of someone hurting Matt and taking him away plagued your mind.
On any night, Matt could face someone able to take him and he probably wouldn’t make his way back home. All while you’d be on his sofa, waiting for him and drinking your tea with a lot of god damn honey.
You sighed quietly, turning back face to face to a sleeping Matt. He was so... Collected, you vaguely took a lock of his hair from his eyes and admired his serenity. Sleeping just like an angel, how ironic...
It wasn’t like you were capable of holding yourself when it came to Matt, your fingers were already tracing the marks that old bruises left on his face before you noticed it. The light marks were almost invisible, totally vanished, but you could see each one of them. And you could remember what caused any of them.
Even so, you traced them, every single one. It distracted you from that urge to sleep, besides: seeing all those light marks helped you to remember that he was there. Matt was sleeping beside you, peacefully.
He was just fine. One more night, he got his way to come back home.
A genuine smile spread across your face, and you trailed your finger down to your boyfriend's bare chest. Showing a lot more scars than anyone could imagine.
That was a thing about Matt that you learned night after night: every bruise and every cut will leave a scar.
Just as you were about to trace the new ones on his shoulders, a hand gently gripped your wrist and stopped you.
Matt had his eyes open lazily, unfocused but with his attention turned at you and your steady breath.
“Please, don’t” the words were whispered under his breath, reaching you and enveloping you in that quiet and simple moment.
“Why not?” you asked in another whisper, the vigilante shook his hand and shut his eyes. Between layers of sheets and the two of you, you briefly felt his heartbeat, almost at the same way he can sense yours, “What are you afraid of, sweetie?”
“I-I’m...” he gulped, taken aback by you sensing his fear but you only stroked his jaw, encouraging him to continue, “I almost didn’t get back at home. Back to you”
“I know” you nodded slowly, “But here you are, alive and here”
“It was a close call” Matt licked his lips quickly, tilting his head down, “Those-” he gestured to the new cuts and bruises on his shoulders and the ones that you didn’t notice on his backs.
“Those new ones, as the other ones, represent all the times I nearly failed with the city... With you. Every time that for a second I flinched and couldn't be able to go back to complain about your teas.” that the last comment drew a sad laugh from you, but not for a moment did you leave his face and he picked that, offering a light but sad smile in return, “I can’t fail, not with you”
He squeezed your hand, the one on his jaw. As to make sure that you still were there, listening for each one of his words and the trembling on the back of his throat.
You were there.
“And you won’t” you leaned your forehead to his and he took a deep breath, breathing in all of your scents, “All I can see is you, it will always be you. Not what you see as failures or scars, bruises, cuts, or whatever, only you. You and that big heart of yours that I love so much”
While your words hit him, Matt pursed his lips and let his other hand rest where your heartbeats. Noticing his movement, you hold his wrist, “Tell me, did I lie? At any moment?”
“No” he muttered softly, “You didn’t”
“All of my fears disappear when you’re with me, Matty” you whispered, “Safe and sound. Those scars just prove to me that despite everything, you found a reason to stand up and get back home”
“It was you, you were the reason” he breathed out the words calmly, kissing the top of your head as you melt under him, “It’s always you”
“It will always be you” you repeated your words, but this time in a promise. Watching his eyes gleam at your silent confession, “Only you”
Matt's smile grew and you felt good knowing you were the one who did it.
Before he added, “Me, you and that sugary tea of yours”

There’s somethings in life that you regret, but you regret nothing more than you pushing Matt’s buttons the way you have that day.
It starts with you muttering under your breath that “if he won’t touch me then I’ll just touch myself.” You know Matt’s senses are heightened, you know he can hear a feather hitting the ground from across the apartment. You know nothing gets past him, but that doesn’t stop you from muttering the damning words under your breath while he tries to focus on case files for his latest client. You can hear him mumbling something under his breath about you being a brat, but ultimately he stays right where he is and you huff.
So you choose to up the ante. You slip off your panties and climbing into the bed with a sly grin. Spreading your legs so that you can slip your fingers between them to tease at your sex, you give a pleasured sigh. It’s not the same as when he’s touching you, but it’s good enough to get you worked up.
In the living room, Matt tries to tune out the sound of your breathy moans and quiet sighs as your fingers slip and slide through your folds.. He’s almost done, he tries to remind himself. It’s just about another hour left of going through all the files, statements, and research. Somehow an hour seems too long when he catches your scent, you’re wet and he can smell it. If he listens just a little bit harder he can hear it as well, and suddenly he’s more than just frustrated at your antics.
You make the mistake of being pleased with yourself when you hear him dropping the heavy file folder down onto the coffee table. Seconds later Matt is making his way into the room, and stripping you out of the shirt you’d stolen from his closet. “You just couldn’t give me one hour to finish working? Needed my attention that bad, didn’t you?” He says with a sigh, as if he’s unimpressed and disappointed in you. But you can see how he’s tenting in his pants, clearly he’s feeling just as needy as you are.
Problem is, Matt is a master of restraint and punishment. He likes to joke that it’s the catholic in him.
He doesn’t immediately dive in, and fuck you like you’re clearly hoping he will. Instead he’s taking his time in running his rough calloused hands over every inch of you. You’re so soft to him, skin so smooth, and he can never get enough of touching you. You love his hands a bit too much, you think to yourself, because Matt has you panting and squirming under his touch so easily and he hasn’t even gotten close to your pussy.
“Matty please…” You whine at him, and he just chuckles as he dips his head against your shoulder and inhales with a content groan. He loves when you use the cocoa butter, it leaves you smelling so delectably sweet and it makes his mouth water. His lips find your pulse point, and you keen softly at the feeling of his teeth scraping over it before he’s leaving a trail of kisses and bites down your body until he’s between your legs.
That’s how he ends up between your thighs for over an hour, eating you out and pumping his fingers into you. He brings you to the edge more times than you can count, but right when you’re about to tip over it. Just in that split microsecond, he stops. No matter how hard you try to keep your reactions under control it’s no use. He knows your body too well, he knows exactly how far he can push you before he needs to stop. Every little gasp, every hitch of your breath, the way you flutter around his digits, the way your pulse races just a little faster, all of it tells him what he needs to know. You sob in desperation, knowing that you’ll never be able to get anything past him.
You’re so frustrated that you’re in tears, hands fisted in the sheets and chest heaving as he pushes you to the edge and denies you yet again. Matt slithers his way up your body to kiss away your tears before he presses a messy kiss to your lips. “What’s wrong? I thought this was what you wanted.” He teases you, and you’re too needy and frustrated to get mad at him for it. “I thought you wanted me to touch you.” His fingers start to move again, and it’s only a matter of seconds before he’s building you up to yet another climax just to pull the rug out from under you at the last half second. Your walls flutter around his fingers pathetically, and Matt chuckles down at you when you pull him closer. “Alright, do you really want to cum?” He questions, as if it isn’t abundantly clear that you do. He’s still playing with you, teasing you, and punishing you for being so bratty and demanding while he was trying to work.
You try to answer him, words choking into moans when he crooks his fingers inside you and does just enough to ease you right back up the split second between denial and orgasm. He uncurls his digits right before and you nearly scream in frustration. It had been so close, so close you could practically feel it and then Matt stopped right before the wave could begin to carry you into sweet sweet oblivion. “Sorry, I didn’t understand you. Wanna try again?” He taunts, leaning down to press another kiss to your lips.
“Please, please Matty…” It’s a desperate plea, and you don’t hesitate to beg him, lips brushing against his as you cling to him. Tears shine in your eyes as you lock your gaze with Matt’s. “Please, I’m so close. Let me cum, pleasepleaseplease. I’m right there...so close.” You plead with him, and his fingers curl inside you again. You feel him stroke that sweet spot once. You gasp. Another stroke of his digits against that spot. Your back arches, and you just need one more and you’ll be falling apart in bliss.
Matt’s fingers twitch as if he’s going to finally give you what you need, and then he—

“I honestly don’t know why I’m freaking out about my outfit. He won’t even be able to see it! Why am I freaking out, Tasha?” you asked her on a verge of desperation, smoothening your dress for the millionth time.
As you got to the hem of the dress, all you wanted to do was to pull it over your head and change. Again. You stared at your reflection in the mirror, honestly considering it.
Natasha, standing behind you, put her hands on your shoulders to keep you in place and raised her eyebrow.
“Hey. You have every right to be nervous. How long has it been since your last date?” she asked gently, surprisingly so for a super-spy.
You bit your lip guiltily – of course, she found the root of the trouble. It had been too freaking long. The fact you were going out with Matt – an amazing human being – was not helping to sooth your nerves either.
“Almost two years.”
“Well. I think you’re entitled. But you’re gonna be fine,” she reassured you and you caught her honest gaze in the mirror. She squeezed your shoulders. “That guy? He fell hard – I hope you figured that out already. Just be yourself and you’ll be fine.”
You took a deep breath. “Thanks, Tasha. I really should go or I’ll be late. The taxi might even be here already.”
You picked up your coat, leaving the dresses you didn’t even want to count – Natasha had supplied you with too many of hers and still, you took the only dress you owned yourself – and grabbed your purse on the way.
You were insanely grateful to Natasha for her help – yet, your heart was fluttering nervously and ached a little. You wished Steve was here too, but you understood this was more of a ladies thing. You were sure he wished you the best for your date even if you hadn’t heard him say it.
You opened the door only to meet with Steve’s surprised face. His eyes measured you from head to toe and you fought the urge to hide – god knew why. That was until his gaze returned to your face and a smile appeared on his lips.
“You look beautiful, Snowflake,” he whispered, checking you out shamelessly once more. “He’s a lucky guy.”
You bit your lip, feeling the rush of heat colouring your cheeks. You lowered your gaze, examining your shoes; they had heels, you were about to kill yourself in them, why were you wearing them again…?
Steve chuckled at your reaction. You couldn’t help but feel like there was something foreign in that supposedly happy sound, something you couldn’t decode.
A hand appeared under your chin, fingers tucking a strand of your hair that fell in your face behind your ear. He kissed your forehead lovingly and you inhaled deeply, trying to calm down your rapidly beating heart. You knew he was trying to help, but it didn’t really work.
“Hey, Snowflake. Hold your head high, you look wonderful. It’s gonna be fine. If he upsets you, you not only can let him go, but you have five– no, six pissed off friends actually, I’m sure Thor would stop by for that – to punch Matt in his face. Understood?”
That finally made you relax and the tension in your shoulders eased with a huffed laughter. Steve’s eyes twinkled for a moment and you couldn’t but laugh again.
“Did you just say ‘pissed off’?” you asked incredulously and Steve shrugged it off – except a hint of a blush appeared in his cheeks too and hell, you could not miss that. You feasted your eyes on his embarrassment and only then gave Captain Language a proper hug, which was reciprocated tightly.
“I guess I’m nervous for you that much,” he murmured over your shoulder and the statement melted your heart.
“Thank you, Steve.”
He squeezed your waist once more, caressed your back and released you from his embrace, uneasy smile on his lips.
“Go. We wouldn’t want you to be late.”
You just nodded and made your way to the elevator. You sparred one more glance at Natasha, who joined Steve in the hallway, couple of dressed folded over her forearm. She grinned at you.
“Not to make you nervous, Frosty, but just because he won’t be able to see you with his eyes, it doesn’t mean he won’t appreciate your appearance! And other stuff! Considering all of his senses are heightened!” she called after you and you felt you face turning into a mask of horror.
All of his senses. Shit. What perfume did you use? How much could he— would he be able to tell you hugged-- did Steve just hug you to make Matt jealous and possibly make him think you were wanted, so he would value the fact you were going out with him more?
No, wait, you were the one who hugged Steve, which--- this was so going to be a disaster. You whined and slid into your coat, hoping it would make you invisible. And undetectable in any other way. This evening started swimmingly…
With you going down in the elevator, Natasha and Steve were left alone.
“Smooth, Rogers. Very subtle,” the spy exclaimed, patting his arm patronizingly. Steve shot her an unreadable glare.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“About the fact Mr. Hot and Devilish wouldn’t even have to make her unhappy. It’s him making her happy that you want to punch him in the face for.”
Steve grinded his teeth, his look turning murderous. “That’s not true. I want them to get together.”
“Sure,” she agreed, shrugging. “That’s why you marked your territory like a goddamned dog.”
The rush of irritation and shame at being caught hit him stronger than excepted. Natasha knew exactly how to push his buttons and it drove him crazy.
“I didn’t-“ he protested lamely, only to realize he indeed hadn’t. “She was the one who hugged me.”
“Yeah. Keep yourself telling that. She did hug you, but what happened before that, that was on you. I’m surprised you didn’t kiss her on her mouth. I don’t understand how one can be so blind— eh, sorry-”
Steve’s hands curled into fists and he paced to his room to change into something more suitable for workout. He needed to punch something and as much as he was pissed at Natasha for mocking him, he liked her too much to hurt her – the punching bags would have to suffice. Bags, definitely plural, because he would tear some today, no doubt.
“Have a good workout, big guy!” she shouted after him almost cheerily and he slammed the door with such force that dust of plastering snowed down around the doorway.
Snowed down. Fuck. That would be more than one ruined bag today.

Entering the restaurant was one of the scariest things you had ever done. But the friendly space welcomed you, soft lights illuminating the room, white clothing on the tables, each with a candle on it, several people talking rather lowly. You gulped looking around – probably forgetting everything Natasha had taught you about subtle observation, because the hostess spotted you immediately and walked to you, assuming you were completely lost.
“Good evening. Do you have a reservation, madam? Are you meeting anyone here? Or I am going to look for a table for one?” she asked politely, professionalism never leaving her face.
You gulped. “Uhm… meeting someone actually. There should be a reservation for seven o’clock under the name Murdock?”
“Of course. Mr. Murdock is waiting for you. Follow me.”
‘Waiting for you?’ You were five minutes early! You were kinda hoping you would have time to calm your nerves-
Matt probably knew about you the second you entered the restaurant – still, it surprised you when he rose as you approached the table and pulled out your chair for you to sit down before helping you from your coat.
“Hi, Matt,” you greeted him unsurely, obediently sitting down. “Thank you.”
If he wouldn’t have stood up, you wouldn’t have recognized him – or at least it would take you a while. He wore a nice-fitting black suit with white shirt and crimson tie – not something you were used to; the only outfit you had seen him in was either his armour or the shirt he wore in the hospital, where you hadn’t really paid attention.
His face was partly hidden behind a pair of round red-toned glasses, making you feel like you were meeting a completely different person. You had already met Daredevil, you had met Matt, you supposed, and now you were meeting Mr. Murdock. Though the colour of his tie and glasses was a hint, sending a vibe of familiarity towards you.
“Your waitress will be here shortly,” the hostess announced, barely noticed.
Matt smiled at you. “Hi. Glad you could make it.”
You inhaled sharply. Was your nervousness that evident?
“Yeah. Yeah, me too. It… it was… okay, uhm, I guess you can tell I got hugged profusely. By Steve. And Nat. I was… nervous. Sorry,” you mumbled, watching the flame of the candle flicker as you exhaled. “It’s been a while since I was… out.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he said, his tone surprisingly soothing. It worked for you, okay. “It’s been a while for me too.”
That made you snap your head up.
“Really?” you blurted out. “I mean… you just seem like a guy who…”
He tilted his head, his eyebrow rising in challenge. “…yes?”
“Oh god, no I didn’t mean like…” You whined silently. Now it sounded as if you were saying he was a manwhore.
“I’m waiting for you to finish that sentence. Are you suggesting something?” he teased you and it ignited the flame of banter-queen that had revealed herself while on the mission with the Devil.
“I’m suggesting that you seem like a guy who can’t complain about the lack of attention from women – possibly men. I don’t know where your train of thought headed…”
He grinned, impressed and possibly satisfied with himself; he had every right. You found the uneasy sensation in your stomach resolve as you stepped into a more familiar territory of teasing. And with him grinning, damn, he was a handsome little shit.
“Thanks. I do have a rich nightlife, but…”
“Right. I can understand that there are different kinds of nightlife.”
“Exactly. Sneaking from bed every night doesn’t work well. And loading every potential partner with why I do it… it’s not that easy.”
“I’m sorry,” you whispered and Matt just shook his head.
“It’s my choice. I’m glad you’re here and we have this part out of our way.”
You bit your lip as he gave you yet another smile, this time softer. “I’m glad too. But are you suggesting there’s more?”
He chuckled dryly. “Well. Of course there is, but we can work with that later. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has some things that are important, yet not the best thing to discuss on the first date.”
The flutter of your heart caused by the mention of heavy baggage on your side turned into an excited one as you were reminded this was your first date – with a great man, who was as badass and cocky as he seemed understanding, sweet and gallant.
“Yeah. You think wine would help?”
“Absolutely.”
────── ·❆· ──────
The wine did help. You two made it through why you hadn’t been on a date for a while, which featured your struggle with the disease and you ‘dying’ and joining the Avengers. To balance the heaviness, you mentioned few stunts your friends in the Tower had pulled so far.
Matt told you about his best friend finding about his nightlife, but also about the work they did in their little firm with big ambitions, throwing in stories from college.
You laughed, your cheeks hurt and your belly too, your body was pleasantly buzzing and you hadn’t even noticed the restaurant was almost empty until Matt took off his glasses, toying with the earpiece of them.
“I like it better this way,” you noted deliberately and his fingers froze. “Uh-uh, no, leave them off, please. I really do like it better, if that’s okay with you.”
He sort-of looked at you shyly and you were welcomed by the warm of his brown irises, twinkling in the soft light of the candle.
“You sure?” he pried hesitantly and you nodded, hoping he could perceive that.
He resembled a lost but hopeful puppy and it was such a surreal look on his face – through the night, you had had an opportunity to know him a bit more, but this was… new. No matter what you had been discussing, there always had been confidence in him – more or less. You didn’t think he would be self-continuous about his eyes of all things, but it made sense. Your heart swelled.
“Yeah, Matt. I really am.”
Time flied and before you knew it, the waitress politely pointed out they were about to close the restaurant.
“Oh,” you let out intelligently, honestly taken aback. This time wary of being subtle, you checked the space – it was empty. Everyone was out. Oh.
“Of course. Bring me the check, please,” Matt asked, apparently unfazed. You could only wonder if he had been aware of their situation; given his abilities, he probably had. Huh. Guess he didn’t want to leave either – the thought warmed you heart.
He paid for you both, helping you with your coat again. Once you were outside, pleasantly cool air brushing your cheeks, he turned to you sheepishly.
“May I walk you home? Or do you prefer a cab?”
Your heels were killing you already; yet, the choice was clear, because you didn’t want the night to end.
“Walk?”
Your reward was his wide smile and silent request for your elbow. Damn the heels, this was worth it.
“Lead the way?” he asked as he folded his cane, his hand sliding under your arm.
You would be hesitant about the direction, but the Avengers tower was too much of a highlight to miss it. Still, you couldn’t help but tease him.
“Do you trust a woman with directions?”
He chuckled. “Well, I am blind, so I’m trusting anyone who can actually see where we’re going. Perhaps not any woman. I think we established a while ago that I trust you.”
Your heart skipped a beat at that, making Matt’s smile grow. Well, that wasn’t embarrassing at all, that he could read literally every reaction your body had. Not awkward at all.
“Thanks.”
You weren’t stupid enough to walk to the Tower. For all you knew, Tony had his eyes on everything within a half-mile radius at least and you didn’t want him to spy on you two. That man had no sense of privacy whatsoever.
“Well, I guess this is me,” you murmured, stopping in your tracks. Matt frowned and you cleared your throat. “Uhm… eyes and ears everywhere. I don’t want to…”
A flash of understanding appeared on his face and he laughed silently as he turned his whole body to you. He was close. Very close.
“That makes sense. Too bad it means we have to say goodbye now.”
“Technically, we don’t have to. Say it, that is,” you added at his confused expression. One corner of his lips rose higher, his free hand finding yours and running up your arm.
“Very true, Gerda.”
Your breath hitched as he used your nickname for the first time that night. His hands weren’t helping you to control your breathing either.
“We can always go with a goodnight.”
“Is a goodnight kiss too bold?” he whispered, leaning in just slightly, giving you a room to escape if you wanted to. You didn’t think you wanted to escape.
“Very bold…” His face fell, silent ‘oh’ escaping him. “But I’m okay with bold.”
“Mean woman,” he murmured, erasing the distance and meeting your lips.
Your heart positively stopped the moment it happened and it felt like eternity before it kicked back in.
His lips were warm against yours, gentle and hesitant at first. Your own hand deliberately shot up to his face as you realized a response would be appropriate, but dammit it had been a while and his mouth on yours felt so fucking good. Your fingers found his nape, pulling him just a little closer as heat coiled in your abdomen, welcoming the butterflies fluttering their wings in your stomach. You felt the grip on your elbow tightening and Matt took your lower lip between his, fondling with more boldness indeed.
You sighed in appreciation, your heart hammering in your ribcage that suddenly felt too small, even for your breathing. You retreated just slightly, needing some air, but aching at the thought of creating a distance between you and him. He inhaled deeply too, his hand on your jaw, his thumb caressing your cheek.
“Goodnight?” he tried out silently and you couldn’t help but chuckle, enjoying the tickle of his breath as he did the same.
“Fight me, but that didn’t feel like a goodnight kiss.” You shortly met his lips again, unable to resist – but aiming for only a peck that wouldn’t leave your fingertips tingling like the previous kiss. “Goodnight?”
“Goodnight indeed.”
He kissed the corner of your mouth before letting go of you and you pretended you didn’t feel cold all of sudden. At least his warm eyes were still watching your chin.
“Stay safe,” you whispered and Matt gave you one more gorgeous smile.
“I’ll try. Take care.”
You nodded and forced your body to spin on your heels to go, because if you wouldn’t do it now, you might as well end up going home with him or taking him to the Tower, which something you weren’t really ready for.
You started walking, snuggling into your coat, crossing your arms on your chest to keep yourself warmer. You spared one more glance at Matt, who was still standing where you had left him, raising his hand in tiny wave as you looked over your shoulder. Your cheeks burned as you got caught; then again, he hadn’t move from his position, watching you as well, so you had no reason to be truly embarrassed.
Or you thought so, until you realized the air actually was unusually chilly for September and to make it perfect, a snowflake fell on your nose. You looked around, realizing it started snowing.
Snowing. This wasn’t normal. Which meant… did you just…?
“Holy shit,” you muttered under your breath, unsure whether you should be horrified or not as you turned your palm up, catching few more snowflakes. You… you somehow did this. It was as terrifying as awesome.
In the end, you just giggled at what you had caused.
Let it snow.
────── ·❆· ──────
Natasha was standing in her room, staring out of the window as snowflakes slowly descended. None of them stuck, melting as soon as they collided with the surface, but there was no denying it really was snowing. And given the fact that the temperature needed to drop significantly for this to happen, there was no doubt whose doing was that – deliberate or not.
Your emotions were running high.
“Hey, Steve. What are you still doing awake?” she heard your astonished voice from the hallway and she bit her lip. This was definitely your excited voice; the date went well. The snow was a good sign.
“Couldn’t sleep.”
Natasha’s heart ached for her friend, simultaneously wondering if you could hear the subtle hint of pain in his voice. She suddenly felt guilty for helping you to get ready for the date – but it felt like the right thing to do.
“So you went to a gym? It’s after midnight. You’re making us all look like couch potatoes.”
Natasha could easily imagine that the soldier ‘casually’ shrugged.
“Felt like working out,” he explained easily. No shit. How many punching bags did he destroy this time?
“Is everything okay? I know it’s not the first time. Something troubling you? Talk to me, Steve,” you pleaded softly.
Natasha sighed. That would be your placing your hand on his forearm in comforting gesture, your eyes screaming ‘you can trust me’. You always did that, because it was the thing you two did and you two were so utterly hopeless it hurt.
“It’s nothing, Snowflake. Nothing you need to worry about. You look happy. I take it the date went well?”
His voice was strained and the spy had no doubt you could tell. Yet, you answered him, tiny chuckle bubbling in your throat. “Yeah. It did.”
“One more reason for you not to worry about me,” Steve offered kindly and Natasha just gritted her teeth. Rogers was such an ass. Noble, maybe, but bozhe, such an ass. “I’m happy for you, Snowflake.”
“Thank you. But we’re talking about you, soon. I need you to be happy too, Steve. You’re too important to me and too good not to be.”
Natasha agreed wholeheartedly, glancing at the flash drive on her nightstand. She had downloaded the conversation she had with Steve, him confessing his feelings for you, but now, it seemed worthless.
While she wished for you to be happy, she was hoping you could do that with the supersoldier who was head over heels for you. She had been sure you felt the same, but now she had doubts. You could easily fall in love with Daredevil, he was charming enough, and she had no right to interfere with your love-life.
“Okay. I promise I’ll tell you later.”
Natasha scoffed. Yeah, sure. On your deathbed, maybe.
“ ‘kay. Love you, Steve. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Snowflake.”
Natasha heard your footsteps trailing off and slowly went to open her door for a slit.
“Don’t say a word,” Steve warned her icily, a heart-breaking crack in his voice.
“I was gonna offer you a drink, an ‘I’m sorry’ and a hug.”
She heard him inhale and exhale shakily and she stepped out to find him resting his forehead against the nearest wall. His eyes were squeezed shut and she would swear it wasn’t sweat what gleamed on his cheeks. She pressed her lips together, hesitantly bringing her palm to his arm. His Adam’s apple bobbed.
“I’m really sorry, Steve,” she whispered tentatively, surprised when he bounced off the wall, looking her straight in the eye. His own were indeed glassy, but he wasn’t crying.
“You don’t have to be. She deserves the win, I’m happy for her.”
He said it with such conviction that if she hadn’t known him well enough, she wouldn’t notice how fragile the façade he had hastily built up was.
“Good. But you should know you don’t have to be, macho man. It’s okay to be angry, not just with yourself, but also with her and especially with him. You can be sad and you can be hurt. I know I’m not exactly the most open person when it comes to emotions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel. And you can feel too.”
Steve escaped her gaze, but she could see his tiny nod. She took it as a victory and encouraged, she took his huge arm.
“Come on, Cap, let’s find out where Thor stocked the good booze.”

Summary: Reader is invited to her aunt’s yearly christmas party and she asks Matt to pretend to be her boyfriend for the evening to avoid her evil cousins making fun of her even more.
“You want me to be your chaperone then ?” his voice wary.
The last few weeks you had dreaded opening your mailbox and taking calls. You knew the moment would come, as it does every year.
One morning you went to get your daily post and found an envelope. You recognised the handwriting immediately and your heart sank.
This was it, the invitation. Every year your aunt would invite you to her yearly christmas party. And every year, you hated it. It wasn't your aunt's fault, your cousins however were a different thing.
They were like the cruel step sisters in Cinderella. In short, they were bullies. Mean to anyone who they believed to be unworthy.
You opened the envelope to find a beautiful white card decorated with glitter. Your aunt had good taste when it came to these things, she had even used a stamp with kittens on it.
As you read the card you realised your mistake. She was not just inviting you, but also the boyfriend you had mentioned once on the phone to her. You had broken up with said boyfriend a while ago.
"Great" you sighed. Now your cousins would certainly make your evening a nightmare. You used to hang out with them when you were younger, but you realised soon that all they did was bring you down. The last straw was one of them seducing your then boyfriend. It made you feel so bad that you have felt insecure since then. You knew they were pretty, everyone knew and so did they. You didn't stand a chance against them when it came to men.
You really didn't want them to know that you were still single. And then you decided to do something risky.
You found yourself standing in front of the door of Matt's apartment. You had been friends for 2 years now, and you were about to ask him a big favor. There was the possibility of him refusing or even laughing at your question, but anything was better then facing those evil brats alone.
You knew Matt's hightened senses would have alerted him to you being there so you knocked.
The door opened almost right away.
" (y/n). Hi, I wasn't expecting you. You wanna come in ?" He motioned for you to step inside.
You were nervous on how to ask this thing "Hi, Matt. Sorry I didn't call before coming here."
He closed the door once you were inside "Don't worry about it. It's good to see you." He smiled at you "Do you want something to drink."
"You got any beer ?" You blurted out and he seemed a bit suprised.
"Wow. Sure, I didn't take you for an early drinker." He walked to his fridge to grab a bottle.
"Yeah, sorry. I'm just a bit stressed today." You walked around the room a bit, hoping to calm your nerves.
He opened the bottle of beer and handed it to you "Something I can help with?" He sounded worried.
You fumbled with the bottle for a bit before taking a sip "About that...that's actually why i'm here."
He walked over to you "I had a feeling there was something."
"You mean you heard my heart playing like a drummer?"
He let out a chuckle and nodded "Well, yeah. Tell me, (y/n). What's this about?"
Your fingers were tapping on the bottle "My aunt...uh.. she holds this big party every christmas eve. And she expects me to be there of course. Only this year she expects me to bring someone along."
He had a confused expression " (y/n), I don't really understa-"
"I am asking you to accompany me to the party." You blurted it out before you would be too scared to ask.
His brows shot up "So, you're asking me out ?" He stammered.
You waved your hand "No, not exactly...”
You took another sip of the beer “ It's complicated. But please, Matt, please help me out. This is very important to me and I'll owe you one, Please ?” you pleaded.
You bit your lip, this was getting really awkward “I'm asking you to pretend to be my boyfriend for the evening."
"Oh." He tilted his head "I feel honored that you are asking me, but why exactly do you need a 'fake' boyfriend ?" He was holding in a laugh.
You rubbed you arm "I kind of forgot to tell them I broke up with my last boyfriend and now they want me to bring him to the party."
“Auwtch.” he cringed “ Why don't you tell your aunt now?”
He let his hands rest on his sides and let out a breath “Alright. I'll do it.”
You nearly jumped from excitement when he agreed to accompany you “Thank you so, so much, Matt.” You took three steps before you hugged him. “You just saved me.”
He put a hand on your back and patted “You're very welcome, (y/n).”
You let go off him and headed to the door “I'll call you soon to give you the details and time. Okay?”
“Sounds good.” he chuckled. “See you soon, (y/n).”
You waved, knowing that he would sense it before you left his apartment.
That went better than expected, at least you wouldn't have to show up at the party alone now.
The day of the party had come and you were putting on the dress you had spent hours looking for in the many stores that you had visited. The dress wasn't cheap, this time you wanted to dress to impress. You wondered how your cousins would react to you arriving with Matt.
Even they would realise Matt was handsome, the thought of him being your company for the evening made you smile.
You brushed your hands over your dress, smoothing it out while looking in the mirror one last time.
You took a cab to your aunt's place, and made the cab stop around the corner where Matt was waiting for you. You tipped the driver and got out.
Matt had dressed up for the occasion, wearing a tuxedo and bow tie.
“Bow tie, huh ?” you said as you walked to him.
He touched the bow tie for a moment “ What ? Don't tell me I don't look good with it. I know you would be lying.”
“Alright, smartass. So, you ready for this?” you clapped your hands together.
He gave a quick nod and turned his cane between his fingers “I am. You ?” he asked you as you took hold of his arm.
“Not really, but duty calls.” you stated.
He laughed at your remark “Come on, how bad can it be ?”
“You have no idea..” you murmured.
“What do we tell them if they ask how we met? I don't think we can tell them that you hit me in the head because you thought I was a burglar.” his sarcasm was evident.
You rolled your eyes “First of all, that's what you get for climbing through people's windows in the middle of the night. Second, we will tell them we met at Josie's bar.”
“Got it. And you and I both know I climbed through your window to safe your life from the real burglar.” he corrected you.
“I know, I know. And once again, thank you for saving my life.” you were almost at your aunt's house.
“I am glad I did. Even if you hit me.”
You groaned “Can we just drop that subject, Matt ?”
He laughed and put his hand on your arm as you guided him.
You were in front of the door of your aunt's residence, feeling yourself panic.
“(y/n).” Matt squeezed your arm a bit “Breath.”
With that you drew a deep breath and exhaled. You couldn't back out now.
You rang the doorbell, you were holding on to Matt tightly.
The door went open and you were met by the wide smile your aunt was displaying on her face.
“(y/n) !!!! I am so glad you are here !!!” she held out her arms for a hug and you hugged her.
“Look at you, you've grown !” she beamed.
You shook your head and let out a chuckle “Auntie, you say that every year. And every year I stay the same height.”
She looked at Matt now “Oh my, who is this ?” she gave you a meaningful look.
“Oh, this is-” you started.
Matt held out his hand to her “Matthew Murdock, but please, call me Matt.” his voice smooth and he gave your aunt a smile that looked like he was posing for a magazine.
She seemed to be startled a bit as she took his hand to shake it.
“Well, I am glad you decided to join us this evening, Matt. (y/n) tends to be very discreet about her relationships so I am glad to see that she has indeed good taste. Like me, for example.” she claps her hands together “Aw just look at you two, so young and so in love. It reminds me of me and your uncle when we were young.”
Tears were welling up in your aunt's eyes as she spoke and reminisced about the past. Part of you felt guilty for lying now. But your aunt seemed to be so happy to see you, to see Matt.
“Oh lord, what am I doing, please come inside!” she held the door open so you and Matt could walk inside. “The party is in the garden, I thought it would be better as there are more people then last year.”
“Good thinking, auntie.” you told her as you and Matt made your way to the garden. Your mouth fell open when you stepped into the garden “Wow.” you breathed.
Your aunt had spared no expense this time, there was a large white tent in the middle of the garden that was covering the tables.
There were fairylights all over the tent and the garden. It was beautiful.
“What does it look like ?” Matt asked you and you realise he couldn't actually see it the way you saw it.
“Like a fairytale. There are small soft lights everywhere, and loads of christmas ornaments placed around the garden.” you told him as you walked to the people in the garden.
“Your aunt has good taste in food.” he stated and you looked at him confused before it dawned on you.
“Already after my aunt's apple pie, huh?” you nudged him.
The smile was wiped off your face quickly as you saw your cousins approach the both of you.
Their eyes fell on Matt for a little too long to not be obvious “Well, look who's here. (y/n), love the dress, the color is a bit last season though.” she said.
“But we know you don't keep up with fashion, bless your heart.” the other chimed in.
You swallowed when you heard their remarks “Good to see you guys too.” you feigned a smile.
“Aren't you going to introduce us to your friend ?” they were both eyeing up Matt at this point.
You shook your head “Of course, this is Matt. My.. boyfriend.” saying it felt... odd.
They stared at you in disbelieve “Your boyfriend ?” one of them asked.
“That's correct.” Matt now held out his hand to them “I'm (y/n)'s boyfriend. Pleased to meet you.” you noticed the tone of Matt's voice had changed.
They both shook his hand a little too long, and you started to feel irritated.
“Attention everyone !!!!” you heard your aunt's voice “Please make your way over to the tables, dinner is being served.”
“I guess we will be getting to know each other better over dinner then.” your cousin said to Matt and both your cousins were giggling as they walked away.
At this point you already wanted to leave this party, but you didn't want to disappoint your aunt, knowing how much work she must have put into all of this.
“I'm starting to understand why you asked me to come with you.” Matt said as you walked with him to the tables.
You didn't answer, you were too upset already. Somehow seeing your cousins flirt with Matt like that made you feel miserable. Old memories of them taking away all the boys you once had a crush on were resurfacing. Why was this bothering you so much ? Matt was your friend, it's not like he was really your boyfriend. This was as close to a relationship you would ever get with Matt, a pathetic lie.
Not like you stood a chance against any of your cousins now that they had aimed their arrows on him.
You leaded Matt to a place at the table that wasn't too close to your cousins, yet still close enough to hear them sadly.
Matt stopped you by holding your arm and pulled the chair from the table for you.
“Thank you.” you sat down. He folded up his cane and took place next to you.
“Is your aunt's apple pie as good as it smells ?” his mood was merry. The opposite of your own.
You shrugged your shoulders “It is.”
You sat in silence, making circles in your soup with the spoon. You had lost your appetite quicker than last year.
Matt tried to make some small talk with your uncle who was sitting next to him, often trying to get you to join the conversation. His attempts were in vain.
The table was filled with people talking about different topics and at one point it got a bit quieter and that's when you heard it.
Your cousins were clearly gossiping about you, at first you tried to ignore it, as you had always done. But then you heard it.
“She can only get a guy if he's blind.” one of them said.
It felt as if the air was punched out of you. You bit the inside of your cheek, and put the spoon you were holding down.
Matt had tilted his head to the side.
You shoved the chair you were sitting on back, you had to get away from everyone as you felt yourself starting to shake.
“(y/n)...” Matt's hand was on yours instantly.
“I'm... I'm just going to the bathroom. I'll be right back.” your voice was wobbly when you spoke.
He let go off your hand, he didn't seem pleased.
You got up from the table and made your way inside the house, you closed the door and were standing in the kitchen now.
The tears you were trying to fight were now falling and you tried to control you sobbing. You walked further in the house, hoping the noise of the party would fade-out the noise of you crying.
You sat down on the steps of the stairs in the house as you tried to control yourself.
The way your cousins had said it hit you hard. The worst part is, they were right. None of the other guys you had once shown interest in had chosen you. None of them. They always choose one of your cousins.
And you hated to think it, but what if Matt had not been blind ?
Would he be like the others and forget about you ?
You let your head fall in your hands and focused on your breathing.
The sound of footsteps almost made you jump, you looked and saw Matt approaching.
Great. Could this evening get any worse ?
“Sometimes I wish you didn't have such a good sense of hearing.” your voice was weak as you spoke.
He walked to you “Sometimes I wish that too. Especially when I hear you cry.”
You wiped your tears away with your hand “I'll be fine, Matt. You should go back to the party, I dragged you here after all.”
He was leaning against the stairs now “You didn't drag me here, (y/n). I wanted to come.”
“You must think I'm pathetic. Making my family believe I actually have a boyfriend.” you scoffed.
“No, (y/n)..” he sighed “I heard what they said back there, about you.” he came to sit next to you on the steps and put a hand on your back.
You burried your head in your hands, you wished he hadn't heard that.
“They are right, Matt.” your voice was wobbly again.
He chuckled lightly “I am pretty sure they are not.”
You groaned “No, Matt. You don't understand.” you shook your head “Every guy I ever dated, every guy I have been remotely interested in, every one of them all chose my cousins over me. And it won't be long before-” you stopped before the words could roll from your mouth.
He noticed your sudden silence “....before what ?”
You breathed in and closed your eyes “Before you choose one of them too and forget all about me.”
Matt fumbled with the cane in his hand before he directed himself to you “You think I will choose someone else over you ?”
His choice of words was odd and it grabbed your attention as you looked at him. You could only nod.
“Permission to speak freely ?” he leaned to you.
You nodded again.
“I'd rather be deaf too than date your cousins, (y/n). Sitting at the table with them was enough.” he smiled at you widely “And... don't take this the wrong way but..”
“Oh god, it never ends well when you start a sentence like that.” you interupted him.
He chuckled and continued “But.. I am glad those other guys choose your cousins.”
You furrowed your brows “Excuse me?”
“No wait..” he held up his hand in defeat, noticing his mistake “I am glad they did. Because if they hadn't, I wouldn't be sitting here with you now. You would be here with some other lucky guy.”
You looked at him as you realised what he was saying.
“What I'm trying to say, in a pretty poor way, is that I wish I was here with you but not as your fake boyfriend.”
“As what then ?” you prayed he was trying to tell you what you thought he was trying to tell you.
“How about next year, we go to your aunt's party, but I'll be your boyfriend for real ?”
“Is this your smooth way of asking me to be your girlfriend, Matt ?” you felt like your heart was going to burst.
“I am doing this poorly, aren't I ?”
You laughed lightly “Why wait 'till next year ?”
A smile spread on both your faces “Good question.” his finger lifted up your chin and his lips brushed yours. “I guess that's a 'yes' then?” he smirked against your lips.
Synopsis: Reader is a fellow vigilante and has been taking care of Hell's Kitchen as well as Matt. They've crossed paths before, but this time reader has to save Matt's ass but goes terribly against his moral code.
A/N: I'm back and I've got some Matt Murdock for y'all :)
Daredevil, wearing his dark costume, is on patrol out on the streets at night. It seems to be going smoothly until he spots some suspicious activity down an alley. As he approaches, his senses tell him he's dealing with an organized crime situation. He quietly makes his way into the alley, approaching the group. He tries to listen in on what the criminals are doing. There are about three of them, and they're just loitering around. He's terribly out-numbered. All of a sudden, a man in a trench coat walks into their view. Matt walks up to the group and reaches for his weapon, as the criminals take theirs too.
The fight starts, and Matt's out-powered. As if God heard his prayer, you appear out of nowhere and take a good hit at the man in the trench coat. He falls down.
"What the hell?" He jumps back. "I didn't hear you. Can you give a guy some warning before you just appear behind him?" Getting mad, he takes a moment to calm down. "Where did you come from? What are you doing out here?"
"Same as you." You say shortly. You turn to the criminals. As you walk up to the man in the trench coat still on the floor, you grab one of your knifes. With ease, you manage to kill the man.
Looking at the man you just killed. "Hey, I have rules. I don't kill people. Now you on the other hand seem to not have any such qualms. You're a loose cannon."
"Fucking rules." You say under your breath as you move towards another criminal. You knock him down and put your knife against his throat.
He sees you point your knife at the criminal. "Hey. Stop. Don't kill him." He says with a stern voice.
You look up at him with an angry expression. You exhale and drop the criminal, smashing his head on the concrete floor.
"I said stop. Don't you care at all about the consequences of your actions?" He can tell he's hit a nerve, and he's trying not to be harsh, but he has to be stern. He can't have you running around like this.
"No. I don't." You say as you move towards the last criminal.
"What's wrong with you? You can't kill people. Killing people doesn't make you a superhero, it makes you a murderer. And it makes you just as bad as the scum out here tonight, just in a different way." He sounds upset.
"Fine. I'm the bad guy. Who gives a shit?" You knock the last criminal down and once again you hold my knife to his throat, ready to strike.
"This is not okay!" He gets closer and tries to take your knife away. "If you kill this man, then I'll have to be the one to stop you." he pulls the knife out of your grip, and holds it in his hand. "And I don't want to have to do that."
Your heart flutters lightly, but you snap back into your fighting-mindset. You wait a second, look at the criminal, then look at him and exhale deeply. You let go of the criminals head and you stand up.
Infuriated, He grabs you by your arm and gives you a firm shake, not letting go of the fact that you just took a human life. "What the hell is wrong with you? Do you not have a shred of humanity? Or compassion? This is sick, and I won't stand for it." You can hear the sincerity in his voice.
"Let me go." You pull your arm back as you turn around, moving away from him "Annoying prick" you say under your breath.
His anger is still there. "You have to learn to control yourself. You can't just start killing people. You're gonna end up in jail, or worse. Do you just think you're above the law? Are you some kind of psycho?"
You stand still for a second, looking at him from over your shoulder "Later, DareDevil." You start running and you disappear behind a corner.
He starts yelling out after you "Wait… Dammit!" Frustrated, He stands there for a few seconds, before sighing deeply and running off in a different direction. He speaks to himself. "That woman's insane. I can't believe I care."
