Everything looked a mess. The apartment was small, the few boxes of their belongings they had brought along still stood around, most still full. with the stress of not being able to check into your room for another hour, and trying to drag your suitcase around without dropping your plate you hadn't noticed a man approaching you. you weren't quite sure how to respond, because while it was clear you were struggling to get a grasp on your luggage and your plate, he was just some random man. yes a handsome random man, but still a random man.

but, the closest empty table for you to eat your hot plate of food is a stretch away, and you're not sure you'll make it without dropping it. so you find yourself nodding, and inviting him to eat with you.

“thank you-” you start, cocking your head slightly.

and theres a beat of awkward silence, until you formally introduce yourself. but after awhile you find yourselves settling into a comfortable conversation, while matt helps you warm up. he even gives you a few tips on preparing for the weather, with bundling, etc. even with the harsh winds, and heavy flow of snow outside the windows of the lobby. but soon enough, its time for you to head to your room.

“you wouldn't happen to have plans, would ya’?” his voice quips, just as youre about to start gathering your things.

and not too long after that, youre both making excuses to be all snuggled up together. because yes, the heater is obviously broken, thats why you need to be so close - so he can keep you warm. totally no other reason. and no, you definitely arent making out by the end of the night.
