Sorry for inactivity…
I was inactive for a while, I missed you guys… but anyways I’m working on my brand new animated short film called Hair Love. Based on the movie and book of the same name by Matthew A. Cherry. The development started in September. I have a few things to get my project finished. Stay tuned for the announcement trailer and the release of Hair Love this halloween!
Hair Love is getting its own tv series and it’s looking super cute!
summer 🌻
CONGRATULATIONS to former Akron Zips football player, Matthew Cherry, who was nominated for Academy Award. Cherry directed the acclaimed animated short film 'Hair Love.'
SN: the tweet from the billboard is dated June 2, 2012
White feminists pride themselves for being so woke and progressive but balk at real inclusion. The Oscars highlight this. Taika Waititi, Bong Joon-ho, Matthew Cherry, and Karen Toliver all made history as people of color. Yet, it's not seen as progressive unless white feminists are literally FRONT AND CENTER. They want people of color to celebrate their wins and act like everyone benefits from it when clearly only they reap the rewards.
A few picture books about embracing and loving our hair 👦🏽❤️👧🏿💖👩🏾🦱
Former NFL wide receiver Matthew Cherry’s touching film is dedicated to black fathers learning to do their daughters’ hair. It’s now available to view for free.
“Matthew Cherry’s Hair Love started from a Kickstarter, and now we’re here. The Sony Pictures animated short (based on his book by the same name) initially played this summer before Angry Birds 2, but as of today, it’s available to view online for free. Cherry blessed us by tweeting it out, just in time for Christmas.
Cherry, who spent three seasons as an NFL wide receiver before turning to filmmaking, dedicated this film to black fathers learning how to style their daughters’ hair. It sounds like a simple task, but anyone who has ever had to style kinky/curly hair understands how nerve-wracking a task it can be, especially when tackling it for the first time. For many fathers, it’s easy to leave the task to mom until the inevitable happens: Mom isn’t available.
Hair Love succinctly captures the nuances of learning how to style black hair.”
