This is mostly based off of a personal experience but how do you think Hanzo would react to Jesse taking him to his first ever Pride Parade? Out of curiosity tbh, no offense or anything :)

okay okay so,,,, the LGBT+ situation in Japan is not so good and it’s even worse in such an old world organization like the Yakuza, so Hanzo likely had not experienced any kind of open acceptance in his homeland. also he’s canonically a reserved man who prefers his private affairs (like sexuality) to remain just that– so i think that it’s very likely that he kept his sexuality very close to his chest and had never celebrated it before. ALSO he is, canonically, a man who loves fun; jokes, drinking, teasing, etc.!
that being said, I think his first reaction to pride would be shock and possibly a little fear. like lbr, everything is LOUD and BRIGHT and BEAUTIFUL and GAAAAAY at pride and yes, Hanzo expected this but holy fuck he did NOT expect this. i think it would very much be a whole “i know what this is like” and then “i had no clue what this was like im an Idiot” situation. i think he’d be overwhelmed (but in a GOOD way) at how open everyone is at pride and how truly happy they are to be themselves. like yes, he’s seen people comfortable and public with their sexuality before, but never on such an enormous scale.
i think his second reaction would be apprehension. he’s canonically a cautious man– it comes with being a sniper– so while he can appreciate others being loud about their sexuality, i think Hanzo would need to be coaxed a little bit. referring back to his aloof nature, i don’t think he’d be comfortable with outright blasting his sexuality from the start, if at all. McCree understands this, i think. McCree is canonically an empathetic man, so i think he’d be perfectly okay with Hanzo just wanting to watch and not really be in the thick of it. dancing off to the side, holding hands, cheering for others– these are all things Hanzo is comfortable with doing.
but once Hanzo is accustomed to his surroundings and to the pride vibe, i think he would 100% want to have as much fun as possible! most of all, i think he would enjoy being someplace with jesse where he doesn’t have to feel like it’s taboo or it’s inappropriate to be affectionate. :>
