Hype Cycle: Smart Matter

Negative space, movement and shape.
For my current project I am keen to venture into the dimension of motion graphics. I am a practice designer that is drawn to the unseen and abstract visuals in our world.
The link to the video above was a comssion by Apple to advertise the iPhone 6 and iMovie. Through the chosen camera angle for this short clip and lighting used it almost transformed the normal world into a dimension of black and white shapes. Section of the video appeared quite abstract as items being thrown and then slowly falling back to earth were unrecognisable and created beautiful negative spaces that transformed and morphed throughout the video. The use of just the camera angle and lighting created strong and bold images that emphasised the beauty within every day movment and objects as it highlighted delicate lines, motion, direction, shapes and form.
Matt Pyke’s drawing techniques.
From my previous exercise in collecting data and information I wanted to explore into an artist/designer that drew with the sense of movement and change within their work. Matt Pyke has a variation of drawing styles, his practice of work inspires me to create motion graphics. But before you create an object you firstly have to analyse and record. These are two beautiful and elegant drawing techniques that he has created and has been able to incorporate the sense of motion, change and time within them.
I am hoping to improve on my own drawing skils to create a sense of dimension and movemnt. Matt Pyke shows me that you dont have to draw perfect lines and photo acurate images to create effective visuals.
