Francis had never been proud of the place he'd gone to work, not after he realized just how horrible it was. Back when he was so dire for money, he'd let himself get hired to work in an asylum, and prayed for it to work out. However, there was just something about the place that made it so... weird.
As far as Francis could see, there were so many innocent people, or people who didn't even belong there at all, and the treatments? He never could see how electroshock therapy was going to help them, not when he could often hear them screaming from the rooms. If someone were to get beaten half to death in the hallways, it wouldn't even phase Francis anymore, not after the countless times he'd seen a patient go through that. No wonder the patients tried to escape, yet it did seem useless if that was all there was to happen.
He couldn't even see how some of them survived over a week in the place, with the poor amounts of food given and the grungy water, not to mention how spoiled or stale the food often was, or how stagnant the water might have became. To have fresh water or food seemed like a blessing for the patients. Of course, all the rotting food, and even the sickness the patients often carried, stirred up rats that Francis hated so much.
If he could quit, he would, but it was the only thing giving him money, and he didn't want to risk losing that. Besides, even though he didn't like to watch these people suffer, he wished that he could just do one tiny little thing. He wished that he could help at least someone. He had no idea how long any relationship would last with the death rates, and perhaps that it why he tried not to befriend anyone.
Regardless, he would follow any order. Today, he was to bring food and water to Vignor, holding his breath as he took the hardly decent meal towards the patient's room. He'd never really visited this patient before, perhaps heard word of him, or spotted him astray when he was working with another patient.
