You can see how throughout the episode, Mac's brain is working overtime over two issues:
The mission itself, and
Riley's confession and his own feelings over it.
The entire mission, at the back of his mind he's also thinking about Riley, and Riley and him. They made it a point to show us how Mac really just could not let go of it, hence, kept bringing the topic up every chance he got.
And those tidbits of pure, genuine sentiments from both Mac and Riley were beautiful! What they told and showed each other over the course of the episode was meaningful and significant, and Mac's "Keep the door closed" was an extremely "okay, if you say so" sort of thing. As in, he only agreed to stop thinking of a potential romantic relationship between him and Riley for her sake, not his.
Also, I couldn't help but notice how each time Riley posed a question to Mac, they were interrupted, rendering the conversation unfinished. Mac slightly hesitated when Riley asked him what he wanted and then, whoosh! surveillance drones aka interruption number 1. Later, when they were huddled together for warmth during Mac's confession of always having carried a torch for Riley aka talk about walls and doors, Riley asked him if he meant that had he known about the door, he would've walked through. Time for interruption number 2: gun-slinging corrupt cops!
So, you know, point is that the conversation isn't really over yet. Yes, their talk in the plane back to Phoenix post-op might have been those two geniuses adorable idiots closing the door and cementing it up into a wall, but we all know the conversation isn't over. Because, again, Mac might have agreed to keep the door closed, but I don't believe he's satisfied or content with doing so.
Let's see where the writers take us from here.
BTW, loved Desi's solo mission and her melodramatic end-of-the-line goodbye to Bozer. 😂😂 Also! Bozer! Acting Director! And a fine one at that! Loved, loved how he dealt with Priya / military woman at the end - totally won her over!
I actually enjoyed the episode, completely, and really the fandom needs to calm the heck down. I mean, are we watching a TV series for the first time, guys? 🙈🤦🏻♀️😂
