Zack Sabre, Jr. made a surprise return to CHIKARA after a 5+ year absence in August at “No One’s First, and You’re Next” in a losing effort to DUSTIN. A little over two months later, he would find himself on the losing end of a battle against Juan Francisco de Coronado at “Counting Backwards”, a match many felt was a career making performance for Coronado. Sabre will want to get back on the winning track when he comes to Fern Park, FL on April 1st, but his challenger won’t make it easy. Max Smashmaster not only has a size advantage, but surely will be surly after losing his Grand Championship contest against UltraMantis Black at “The Empty Child.” Will the current EVOLVE, PWG, and Revolution Pro British Heavyweight champion be able to topple the former King of Trios and Campeon de Parejas holder, or will Smashmaster put himself back on the track to the title?

As revealed at “National Pro Wrestling Day 2017″, UltraMantis Black is the CHIKARA Grand Champion, presumably winning the title during the Secret Season. Max Smashmaster wastes no time cashing in his championship opportunity after earning his 3rd point against Mr. Touchdown this past Sunday. Smashmaster is one of the men responsible for putting Mantis on the shelf, so Mantis will have his chance to get revenge. Will he be successful, or will a new champion be crowned?

Max Smashmaster was fired from CHIKARA after he attacked Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush at “Evil Ways” in February. During King of Trios weekend, Max reemerged and threatened to hurt ring announcer Vlad Radinov were he not re-instated. Although Mike Quackenbush had his reservations, Princess KimberLee insisted that Smashmaster be reinstated so that she could “finish the job he started.” With Max sending his former Devastation Corporation members, he is a one man wrecking crew with Sidney Bakabella’s aid. Princess KimberLee will look to “finish the job” on November 5th. For Smashmaster, it’s not just an opportunity for Max to vindicate himself in his own mind, but to earn a Grand Championship opportunity he’s been looking for since June 2014. With Nazmaldun’s army on a rampage, perhaps Smashmaster is the unlikely hero needed to take out Hallowicked, but first he’ll have to get past a former Grand Champion to do so.
