Unilateral Cleft Lip Repair This little girl was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate deformity. The ideal time for surgical repair of a cleft lip is at around 3 months old. Her parents however could not bring her at that time and presented with her when she was 7 months old. Dr SM Balaji explained the treatment plan to them in detail and they consented to surgery. A C-flap was raised to reconstruct the floor of the nose and the nasal sill. Vermillion border was then reconstructed with a three layer closure of the cleft deformity with perfect approximation of the orbicularis oris, subcutaneous tissue and skin. This was performed under magnification of a surgical loupe.
