It’s sweet potato Saturday at our headquarters. Our dogs get plenty of homemade treats, but one treat we make for them that they absolutely love, sweet potatoes. It’s so easy. We usually do about 3 pounds of sweet potatoes at a time (under $5 for a bag at Walmart). Here’s how you do it: - preheat oven to 250° - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (you can buy a roll cheap at the dollar store if you don’t have any). (We usually use 3, 1/2 sheet baking trays) - wash and clean your potatoes, leaving the skin on. - slice the ends off. We cook the whole potato, so we don’t throw any pieces out. - you can slice the potato into rounds or in sticks. If rounds, slice about 1/4 inch thick (no thinner). - if you are slicing lengthwise, slice the potato in half, then slice each half into about 6 pieces (you don’t want to be any thinner than 1/4 inch thick). - place potatoes on parchment paper lined baking sheet so at least one side is facing down. - cook in oven for about 4-5 hours (we usually flip the slices over half way through so each side gets cooked). - let the potato slices cool and they will be chewy and crunchy. If there are slices that are still very soft, turn the oven off and let them cook a little more while the oven is cooling down. - place in ziploc bag or treat container - your favorite dog can enjoy for a week or more (ours do not last long). @maxrugerthebeagles and @coltthecunucu approve! #getfloppytreats #maxthebeagle #rugerthebeagle #coltthecunucu #cunucusofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BtHZQjsh6pA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=v20r59iqxgmn
