Happy Pride to THEM
My dear friend, may I ask for a little drabble from you? Please do feel free to write about any of our favourite characters and ships! I unfortunately don't have any prompts right now, but perhaps there is something in your mind! Thank youuu <3
Here you goooo! Look at how hard I am working on my thesis 😅
Anyway, thank you so much for providing inspiration for this, in more ways than one <3 You will see.
Warning: it is rather angsty and addresses symptoms of ptsd
(Also, it's a triple drabble obviously)
[ID: gif of the motorway in Gridlock, cars driving close to each other. One dives below. end ID]
Ship: Alice/May Cassini
Rating: T
Genre: Angst
Their car looked strange, although it was difficult to pinpoint why. The walls were closer somehow, the entire space more crammed. The bed reached into the cockpit, the window was suddenly tiny.
May found herself wedged into a cupboard at the back that she had no recollection of possessing. Far away, she could see Alice, sitting in her usual seat at the wheel, softly speaking into the mic. Despite the room having shrunk in size, it seemed like an insurmountable distance to cross, especially since May had to climb over the bed with her old joints.
Huffing and puffing she reached her, resting her hand on Alice's shoulder for comfort while she caught her breath. Alice wasn't reacting, still talking into the mic. May tried looking out the window but she couldn't make out anything through the pinhead-sized glass.
"What are we doing here?" she asked. "Didn't we - leave the motorway?"
She remembered distantly, a nice little flat, a walkable city, a life with fresh air. It seemed like a fantasy, now.
"We must have reached the end somehow" she muttered.
Finally, Alice reacted. She turned the chair around and her face was oozing pity. May felt her heart go clammy as Alice took her hand, soft, wrinkly skins dancing across each other.
"Oh May" she said. "There is no end to the motorway."
-
May shot up in bed, breathing heavily. She was in her flat, in New New York. She was not in her car. Alice was by her side, sleeping. Everything was okay.
Alice stirred, awoken by her panic. She tried to pry her eyes open.
"May?" she rasped. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, my sweetest" May lay down again, readily cuddling into her wife's open arms, doing her best to calm her breathing. "Go back to sleep, love."
Thank you for reading!
For the quiet acts of love prompts, could you do either
gently resting their head on their shoulder when taking a picture/peeking at something
or
fixing their clothes a little for them when noticing something is off
for beloved lesbians Alice and May Cassini, please?

Okay! Finally getting to these little prompts! Let's see...
I'll start with the first prompt!
"There's New New York," May said, sighing with a smile on her lined face. For over two decades, they had driven on the highway, living in a very limited space, and they had grown so much closer, some part of May feared what they would even do with more space.
Alice, who had been resting in the back of the car, slowly sat up. "Ahh, I'm getting old," she complained when her joints cracked, and May grinned.
"You've been getting older for years, love, but you're still young at heart... Come see?"
Alice shuffled closer, and after she sat down in her seat, she looked out at the sky in front of them. For the first time in decades, she could see blue outside their little car. "It's beautiful," she breathed.
"And we'll live up there," May said, running a nervous hand over her piece of knitting. It felt like only last week that they had gotten onto the car, and yet it had been nearly a third of their lives ago. Her hands were so lined now, May had stopped counting the wrinkles. Her fingers shook sometimes, and their joints had become worn with age, not helped by the fact that there was not much physical activity one could do in a two by six metres space.
A weight was placed against her shoulder, and May brought up a hand to run it through Alice's short wavy hair. Oh, she remembered the long, auburn braid it had been the day they had set off, the very first grey hairs only just appearing, the strands gradually greying as their years on the motorway passed. May took off her glasses to wipe a tear from the corner of her eye, and she turned to place a kiss to Alice's forehead. "I'm glad we're here together."
"Me too, darling, me too."
(And if you click, there is a surprise waiting for you under the cut <3)
They will be one of my favorite couples for ever. They are super minor characters, but how often do we see a happily old married lesbian couple that survive the epsiode and who are super lovely?!
