wow so i finished little fires everywhere

some final thoughts:

izzy was so good - the only person untainted and unmarred and deserved so much better than her shitbag of a mother

trip was ok - i feel like his whole thing with being the dumb athlete was kind of overdone but i still enjoyed it

moody deserved better - his brother betrayed him and while he wasn’t entitled to pearl he definitely shouldn’t have been lied to and betrayed

pearl was also so amazing - she deserved so much better

lexie was ok - she was definitely the most flawed of the siblings but i still really liked her despite her casual racism/ micro-aggressions

mia SUCKS - people keep talking about how the ‘better life’ they could have had with the money didn’t matter bc pearl always had what she needed but that’s so ridiculous, yeah she had what she needed but what about the things she just wanted the things she deserved, she never had her own BED for christ’s sake

elena sucks SO MUCH - i can’t even get into this bc it makes my blood boil she tried to control every single aspect of her kids lives until it all blew up in her face, the way she treated izzy genuinely made me sick at times

and finally unpopular opinion:

bebe chow sucks too i get that she was trying her best but her best could have killed that child and she is not in a different place financially than she was before so who is to say she won’t abandon her again

also the idea that the mccouloughs were some asshole white rich people who wanted to just buy may ling is honestly ridiculous - the way linda screamed when she found out her baby was gone, that’s a mother’s scream

(also really hated how the show treated surrogacy and adoption in general)

overall good show and it made me cry at the end: 7/10

im ngl, i do feel bad for may ling's adoptive parents, but it doesnt sit right with me on how they changed her name to an american one from chinese, had 'fortune cookies' at her baby shower, linda called bebe an 'illegal alien' and clearly didn't want bebe to get to visit her at all. if you are gonna adopt a child that isn't your own race it MATTERS. the colourblind thing is bs, especially when linda is very clearly is prejudiced.

I actually just read that and I kinda love that’s what happened if that’s the case in the series

It is sickening though cause Mia did spend $500,000 on her picture(I know that didn’t happen in the book) but maybe that could’ve been avoided, and maybe Bebe could’ve done all that in the first place..I joke obviously...cause yah...it’s wrong, but also McColloughs were never going to give Bebe access anyway..it’s all so complicated
