what's your favourite piece of Maya lore?

-someone who had to switch accounts and put on a vpn to ask this because of spam filters (🐦‍🔥)

the fact that she was the only person her cousin cora told that she was a trans girl so when cora accidentally killed herself by overdosing, everyone who knew her referred to her as “he” and as her deadname but maya knows and it’s rankled her for two years now. also both their families are highly catholic which is why cora never told anyone else but she told maya because percy had already transitioned by then and they’d stayed best friends
