Reminder that most of the protests had been peaceful and had been orderly. These violent incidents are not representative of what is happening in the majority of the Manila protests right now and if anyone tries to say that this is 100% what's happening everywhere they are either grossly misinformed, have an agenda, or just actively lying to you.
There's already international news sites that would rather cover the conflict in Mendiola that involved barely a percentage of the actual protesters elsewhere because it's flashier to showcase violence rather than the thousands of protesters all over the country that protested peacefully and it's pissing me OFF
DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH CRAFTING A SENSATIONALIST NARRATIVE THAT DENIES THE REALITY OF OUR PEOPLE!
Here's also a photo of the turnout in the Luneta protest or the Baha sa Luneta protest
someone pointed out that there are still people under the trees too trying to take shade from the heat when this photo was taken
I think in general if you're a Filipino who's interested in Filipino history or folklore or mythology, you reeeeally gotta be wary of your sources and like especially if those sources were written in the early 20th to mid 20th century because there has been a significant number of historical revisionism or just straight up hoaxes that plague even academia that's only now being dismantled and discussed in the mainstream despite being something historians have been trying to correct for decades like genuinely please double check your sources because I keep having to dodge landmines here and it's getting exhausting for the last time there wasn't a precolonial united Filipino kingdom called Maharlika why am I still hearing this in the 2020s

Random List of 99 Filipino Songs from my Playlists
Roll a number from 1-99 and check out a random Filipino song that came from my numerous playlists. Either made by Filipinos or sung in a Philippine language, these songs are part of various playlists I have that I've made for a variety of reasons with all of these songs coming from different genres and different eras of music as well. Enjoy!
All the links go to youtube videos prioritizing official music videos or music videos of the song when it was first released so some of them are pretty crispy while others simply link to an official lyric video or visualizer, video of just the song itself, or a live performance by the original artist of the song.
The songs are in different languages with the majority being in Filipino/Tagalog, some in English, few in Bisaya, and I believe one in Bikolano. EDIT: I FORGOT 1 CHAVACANO SONG HOW COULD I FORGET PORQUE
Also this only gets up to 99 so I can link a part 2 and tumblr has a 100 link cap so yeah

I think one of the funniest things that had come out of these protests is how Ms. Kara David, seasoned and award-wining investigative journalist, became a huge meme and somewhat one of the faces of the revolution because a video of her 52nd birthday wish where she says "Sana mamatay lahat ng korakot sa Pilipinas" (en. I wish all of the corrupt people in the Philippines would die) trended over tiktok and now her name's being plastered on signs as if she was the patron saint of the protest
There's so many other ones if you just look up "Ms. Kara David" on twitter but she's also trending alongside the actual protests too which is really funny
