My dreams striked again, because I saw this and suddenly an au/oneshot idea appeared in my head.
A young adult (Emerald) is playing both DDLC and CRK, Monika and Shadow Milk (both sentient/self aware) manage to break out in desperation to get to their player.
But due to some crap idk how, they end up fusing together.
And not the cool way like Steven Universe (my bestie explained that), it's messy.
You could get Monika's side, with her being kinder and more fluff-like, or Shadow Milk's side, with his more rough and unforgiving actions.
They switch at the blink of an eye, and uncontrollably at that. Eventually they learn to be more consistent, but they'll never truly control it.
If you took some sort of xray thingy that could see their brain, you'd literally see two being barely meshed into eachother, it's a mess.
Part of me wants to say they'd merge more and more to where they start to be more like the SU fusions, but while that'd give some good ol angst since Emerald wants them to be separate so that her crushes can truly be with her like they should be, I also kinda wanna roll with the idea of them never getting better for the ideas hehe-
Powers. I feel that Monika's are sadly gone. Hers had to do with the game, since she's out, why would they work? So obviously the fused pair has Shadow Milk's powers.
I feel like when there's a certain emotion they're feeling, the most forward one you're getting would change.
Anger? Shadow Milk, and BEWARE.
Jealousy? Depends, though usually Shadow Milk.
He likes to be the one to tease with Emerald.
She likes to be the one to comfort Emerald.
Whatever the situation is, they'll somehow change for it.
And there isn't even a visual representation for the switch either.
If they're holding the scepter thing, it'll have a deep shade of green if Monika's more prevalent.
So if they're not holding it, you gotta guess by their mannerisms. Good luck. XD
A good way to tell is that Monika does act a bit like a kinder hormonal teen. She's 19 yall, she's gotta be at least slightly less adult, right? And she knows only some stuff, though not much since she was only able to learn what was in her game.
Shadow Milk however is very smart due to him being the 'knowledge guy'. I'd say he likes to read more informational books, so he could probably... Idk, list off the quantum theory crap or something idk XD. He's a bit childish due to being trapped for centuries with no one but other immature cookies, but he'll get used to being the adult I promise.
They're trying to get used to being purely human now. Monika was data and code, so she's overjoyed on having flesh and blood. Dream come true. But Shadow Milk has to go from dough and jam to this, so he's scared of getting anything worse than a cut (don't tell him I said so) since he's scared he'll crumble away. He's being constantly told by Monika and Emerald that he won't crack apart by a broken leg. It will heal, promise.
Also, they're getting used to being called they/them if they're both being referred to. If just one, then she/her for Monika and he/him for Shadow Milk.
