so after rewatching the finale I actually feel a lot better about it, which is usually what happens after my initial reaction
Overall I thought it was a good episode. But tbh that last scene with Coulson and the team fell flat for me. Like I didn’t really feel anything. It just felt weird b/c we didn’t see anyone on the team really mourn for the Fitz they lost.
I’m also still shocked that we got no fitzsimmons scene the entire episode, and I’m upset at the writers for thinking that would an okay ending for fitzsimmons had the show not gotten renewed for season 6. Like what the fuck why do they hate us.
Daisy was amazing in the episode. Even though she decided Mack should be director, she showed what a good leader she has become. The fight with Talbot was dope and felt movie caliber. I also loved the scene in the beginning where Elena breaks down. She really has been feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders since she met her future self and that was some of the best acting we’ve seen from Natalia on the entire show.
Okay so Fitz’s death. Honestly after thinking it through it really wasn’t meaningless. Number one it broke the loop b/c he died helping rescue Polly and Robin so there’s that. Also, if he hadn’t died, Cryo!Fitz would be waking up alone in a future where the earth is saved, but everyone he loves is dead. As tragic as it was, this Fitz dying saved the other version of him from a terrible fate. It was very hard to watch but ultimately I’m okay with it. Also on the plus side we now get to see Jemma cross space to find Fitz. Like damn... holy role reversal batman! And I don’t even wanna talk talk about Jemma’s expression when she realized Fitz was dead like god just fuck me up. Also Mack and May being with Fitz when he died was so fucking sad but amazingly acted by everyone. I don’t think we’ve ever seen May cry like that before so to see her break down really made his death feel real.
Coulson and May at the end was great. He finally went to Tahiti! Even though Coulson is still gonna die, he gets to live out the rest of his days with the woman he loves. I thought that was a very fitting ending for him.
So yeah obviously my opinion has changed a lot since Friday but to be fair that was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster.

Fitz who doesn’t even like peanut butter, started to request for the same dark chocolate Reese’s that you eat in the grocery list after your speech sessions with him.
Melinda: Maybe they wanted to try something new
