Someone's got 76 screenshots from the latest Versus XIII (now FF XV) trailer. Download away while it lasts. (Note: credits to this blog would be nice but not required. I'd love to see some icons though!)
First impression on the trailer:
Things are about to get real. Frankly speaking, I have more doubts than confidence regarding a tentative 2014 release, what with S-Enix's recent restructuring and all... at least a numbered title announced internationally cannot just go swoosh, Y/Y?
Re: the speculation that FF XV protagonist & heroine met each other as children: 事実なら一生スクエニさんに頭が上がりません。最早ツボを抑えられるレベルの話ではない(以下略)。注:「幼馴染み」とはトピ主が神と崇める二次元設定であり、その幅はゲームに留まらずアニメ・漫画・実写等にも有効。
Gothic style architecture? /grimaces at art history textbook on sofa
Child Noct looks so adorable and his father so kind. Though what's up with Nomura and his characters always having little to no sign of a proper mother figure in their lives...? (Just think about FF VII, VIII and XIII's main party, as well as Kingdom Hearts)
The black-haired lady with green eyes has a very intriguing design. Hope to see a full-body shot soon.
Which reminds me: this is probably the first FF in ages where most main characters seem to be wearing proper clothes. Leave the bikinis to FF X-2 HD only, please.
A Japanese blog I frequent once mentioned that the best part about FF Versus XIII (now XV) visuals = middle age men. Which totally leveled up in this new trailer. おっさん陣が一番格好いいゲームだと北米受けが良さそう。『ニーア』とかそうだったし、ある意味いい試行なのかもしれない。
More names revealed: Noctis' father a.k.a. the king = Regis, the surrounding nations = Niflheim (the antagonist/invader), Solheim, Tenebrae (Stella's country), Accordo
Is it just me or does the Niflheim (?) army look exactly like a combination of FF XII Judges and Lord of the Rings generals...
Last but not the least, a list of newly revealed voice actors spot in this new trailer in addition to the 2011 Premiere lineup. The percentage value in each bracket indicates how certain I am of my hearing abilities. /cough
Yūichi Nakamura as the hooded young man (75%)
Keiji Fujiwara as the red-haired Mad Hatter look-alike (95%)
Ami Koshimizu as Stella (60%)
Regarding Stella's VA: I'm close to 99% sure that she is not voiced by Maaya Sakamoto as some had speculated, perhaps due to the fact that I listen to her radio/CD on a regular basis, not to mention being familiar with almost all the anime she was in as well as her role as Aerith and Lightning in FF series. It might be true that the quality of Maaya's voice is rather close to Aoki (Yuna of FFX/X-2)'s, but if you listen closely, the latter has a higher pitch especially when speaking playfully, while Maaya's voice is more firm and powerful as a whole despite its calm exterior.
