AAAAA YES I CAN

So while I'm sort of Really into Yev and 'Thea and also Yana right now, I actually super wanna talk about Maz!!!

Mazuki is my lovely psycho babe with a super unique upbringing! She's set in the anime world of Hunter x Hunter, so think earth but Way Way Bigger and mostly unexplored with various dangerous animals and people also Sort of have Magic (not everyone and it's highly individualized but falls into 6 categories mostly).

Anyways.

So, Maz grew up in the jungle of an island that hasn't been discovered by the main population so she grew up isolated with just her tribe and what they knew and saw! She didn't have technology or anything.

Her people are sort of reminiscent of some old Amazonian tribes but Not Actually Based on them. So, they are largely hunters, and entirely women. They are a semi-nocturnal people since the heat of the day is too much to be awake for and most animals in the area are nocturnal as well for the same reasons. Because of that, her people have developed Tapitum Lucidum like cats that let them see in the dark and reflect light. Their eyes are sacred to them because of that and the special colour of them, so they all have bangs that they wear really long to cover their eyes.

Because they hunt and eat wild meat, and also drink blood on occasion, they also have pretty sharp teeth and defined canines.

They live mostly in the trees (they're very big trees) and spend most of their lives climbing and barefoot, though they do also spend time on the ground. They wear clothes that wrap sort of like bandages and furs and hides and stuff. It's a very important cultural thing for her people to wear the beloved trinkets or pieces of special hunts tied into their hair: for example, Maz has the preserved eyeball of her first kill hanging from her right ear, the skeleton of a rare fish in her hair, and much more.

Their leader is always a shaman, and the mystic arts are very important to them. They have a few Sacred Rules that if broken are punishable by death. Such deaths, and other sacrifices, are always a Big Deal as they don't occur often, and during such occasions they wear special ceremonial dress and braid back their bangs, exposing their eyes. Special paints and piercings are also utilized to decorate their bodies at such events. It a a rare and fun time for all not being killed:)

So! Maz herself was more gifted in "magic" than most of her tribe and it was decided that she would be sent on a journey to explore the world and find out what she could about the inhabited world. It was super exciting for her and though she misses her people she very much enjoys seeing this very different world and All it has to offer.

She arrived in a very poor and crime ridden area of the developed world as it were, and slowly made friends with what would become one of the most infamous crime gangs of the world. She didn't join them, but she does work with them on occasion. (She's not a good guy, though she's also not inherently bad)

Mazuki has deep but bright red hair with bangs that reach all the way down her nose and is about waist length. It's wild and untameable and very very thick. Her eyes, while always covered, are a beautiful and unique silver-violet colour. She has golden coloured skin, stands at about 5'6", and is lithe as all hell but very very strong. She's got sharp claw-like nails and she's never seen wearing shoes, ever; She's a barefoot gal. Her top is sort of reminiscent of a banette gijinki in that it has lots of zippers and whatnot. The top is black with golden and red detailing, it's a partial turtleneck that is extremely firm fitting to the waist and mid upper arm before flowing out at the elbow in bug puffs before coming back in at the wrist. On the torso it puffs out into 2 large tails at a bit above the bellybutton. It's very cute. The bottoms she wears are small red and black vertical striped shorts and she has bandages down her legs but bearing the majority of her feet.

She's more than a little wild, and could potentially be seen as insane. She enjoys the thrill of the hunt (whether it animal or human is irrelevant) but she doesn't kill kids. Period.

A not-much-refined painting practice I made with Photoshop, starring another of my OCs, Mazuki! I’m still struggling with Photoshop brushes, as I’m not as comfortable with them as with Sai’s, but I think I’m slowly getting used to them...? ^_^
